Stress Test
I had my stress test last night. Results are good as far as I know. I'm hard to stick with the IV, they tried many times. I was exhausted from that alone. Finally, Dr Adeleke came in and stuck me himself. He is such a great, caring Dr. I really, really like him. I work in a hospital and have been around a lot of Drs., and he is TOPS. He was the only one that recognized that I was a person and was totally upset by the whole ordeal while all his staff was just all around talking about "getting her". I was apologizing over and over about being so difficult and do you know none of them bothered to apologize to me for what I was going through - except for him. He REALLY cared.
Well, needless to say, I'm happy I have been able to conquer one more of the unpleasant, but very necessary obtacles we are faced with.

Hi Diane. Good luck with the test. One less thing to worry about. Have you seen the pulminologist yet? I know what you mean about nurses poking around. I had my pre-surgery lab work done yesterday. You should see my arm. Not only did she stick me numerous times, she had to search around for awhile. I now have a huge raised bruise the size of a silver dollar. I forgot to remove the tape and I have a red rash from it. WHOO WHOO. Looking good. EH
Dianne...
I'm sorry that you had such an experince but I AM glad that your doc made you feel better!
It's funny about the vein thing...I remember when I had my kids (many moons ago) that the nurses all commented about how 'good' my veins were. Now? They're practically non-existant and like you, they had to poke and prod and try to 'force' blood to come out, ect. four different locations, including a butterfly needle in my hand. Finally, they went back to my right arm...and there she went! (many bruises later) I guess veins 'shrivel' as you get older?
And hon, never apologize!! It's not YOUR fault that your veins aren't cooperating. Well, OK, maybe one apology, but don't fall all over u'rself trying to make them feel better. From what I hear, they treated you pretty crappy and you deserve better than that, especially when you're paying for a service. And being in the medical field, you know that you train for all kinds of patients, not just the one's with good veins. lol
Just my two cents.

Dianne,
Whew ... it does feel good to get that out of the way doesn't it? Believe me ... I have been there and done that also!!!
BTW, I wanted to tell you that I just read a baritric article about having hard to get veins for IV's and such and they said to make sure you drink plenty of extra water in the days before your surgery. The better hydrated you are the easier it is for the staff to get an IV in. (Figured you probably already knew that, but passing along the info just in case).
Hugs,
Tammy

Whew Diane, I'll bet you are glad that one's out of the way! I know I was! And I'm a member of the "deep veins" club too. I was blessed by having wonderful nurses at Christiana and they only "stuck" me when they were sure - so no "digging" and "searching"...Bulls eye every time! I believe, the hydrating, like Tammy suggested, really makes a difference!
Not too much longer till your date....time is going to fly - so hang on!
((hugs))
