Protein shakes
Well I guess I will suggest some good protein shakes that I have found. Isopure makes a good chocolate protein mix..It has 50 grams of protein. I add it to 16oz of milk...so thats a total of 66 grams of protien..But i do break it up during the day...Also only get the chocolate powder..the vanilla is horrible..And its sorta chalky...But what I am using now is Optimum Whey..it has 44 grams and yes I also add that to milk..SO if you ladies having any other suggestions please let me know..Always on the look out for a better shake
Protein Shakes,
Hey Clint,
I have been making protein shakes for a little while now. For a change-up try adding a teaspoon of peanut butter. It helps change the flavor. Also I have found that the protein mixes really well with soy milk and has a much better flavor than regular milk.
Just Another Guys Input,
Rob
I have found several that I like.
Proplete Gold ~ chocolate is good with 20 gms protein per scoop in 4-6 oz of water or milk. I use milk to up the protein. Going to try the soy like Rob suggested.
Elite Protein ~ On sale at http://store.bariatriceating.com/neelpr.html for $17.99 for a 2.2 lb container. I purchased Vanilla and it is a great base to mix with ton of stuff. Strawberries, pinapple, cocoa with a splash of mint extract, peanut butter, a small bit of bananna (I found I can't do the bananna and peanut butter at the same time), peaches, you name it ... yummy good!!! The thing that I really like at the Elite protein is that it has the protein isolates. I think that I have found that I lose better with the isolates and I know I feel better. It has 22 gms of protein per scoop to mix with 4-6 oz of water, juice, milk. While I am extolling the wonderful world of bariatriceating.com ... let me recommend their protein bars called POWER CRUNCH ... oh my goodness ... they are so good. Taste exactly like a Nutty Buddy to me. While I know it would not be an everyday item, it sure makes a nice "treat" once in a while. AND one bar has 13 gms of protein. PLUS they are on sale also!!! http://store.bariatriceating.com/powercrunch.html
Oh BTW ~ Susan Maria slipped in some free samples in my order plus she gave me tons of advice when I called in my order. I appreciate the personal attention to my order.
I also make a yogurt shake ... I take 1 scoop of unflavored protein powder (I happen to have Any Whey ~ but I can only use it in sweet products because it has a slight vanilla taste to me ~ when I use up this tub, I am going to purchase the Unjury unflavored) Anyway, put in the blender ... the yogurt (ff, sf, vanilla) mix it with about 3/4 frozen strawberries, a little pinapple, a packet of splenda and a couple of ice cubes ... I tell you .... this is good stuff but extrememly filling. I only do this shake once in a while when I am real hungry and it takes me quite a while to drink it still. I figure as I get further along this shake will be even better for me.
I also found that I like the Unjury Chocolate Protein powder ... it has a very thin consistancy and tastes just like chocolate milk to me. I think I added a smiggen of splenda with mine. Would like to order this also!!! If you check with their website, they will give you a free sample or two. http://www.unjury.com/reg/contact.shtml Most people email them, I called.
Well that is it for my protein shake adventures thus far ... hope to hear more from everyone else to help shake up the variety a bit for me!!!
Clint - thanks for the info about the Isopure chocolate - 50 grams rocks. Mine only has 17. I use milk too, I hate it with jus****er. I have to use skim though & can only do 10 or 12 oz per day with that.
I think I remember seeing the Isopure at the vitamin shope or GNC but it was expensice so I didn't want to try it just in case I didn't like it - call me cheap But I guess I'll bite the bullet & give it a try, I'd love to 60ish grams of protein from 1 shake.
