Just poping in real quick to share something great that I just tried. I was trying to come up with inexpensive presents to give to all the family members (adults) and suddenly Spiced Nuts came to my mind. Okay, so nuts are not all that inexpensive, but I bought a huge container at Cosco for under $10.00. Went to the dollar store and purchased some blue decorative "Ball" canning jars. I was able to get 5 presents for about $15.00. And the best part is ... I made the recipe SUGAR - FREE and IMHO it turned out great!!! *grin* I thought that perhaps someone else out here may be scrambling for a present or simply may be wanting to fix themselves a treat ... so I could hardly wait to share. BTW~I put back a few for myself & Hubby *wink*. A great source of protein AND a great sweet & salty snack all in one. Okay, enough gabbing ... here is my recipe. 1 egg white, slightly beaten 2 T cold water (mix into egg white) Add 1/2 cup of white sugar (I used splenda) 1/4 t ground cinamon 1/4 t. ground cloves 1/4 t. allspice 1/2 t. salt Mixed Nuts Mix all items together and spread out on shallow pan and bake in a 250 oven for about an hour. Hubby and I both have went wild over these treats!!! If you try it, I hope you enjoy them also! Sorry, I am in a rush so I don't have time to read all the other threads, but will catch them later as soon as I have a few free minutes. BTW Carla, thinking of you and your soon to be surgery!!! Merry Christmas Everyone. May your home be filled with peace and love. Hugs, Tammy

Forgot to mention that I had to do the recipe x3 to use all the nuts in the jar ... and it actually made close to 7 presents ... don't know how I misposted that ... anyway ... I think it is a keeper!!! Enjoy!

Awwww don't hang up your hat that easily. Perhaps you just don't like this recipe with the different spices? Maybe the vanilla did not fair well in the baking? Or maybe you just won't like the recipe at all (grin) even though I thought they were oh so yummy!!! I will try to make a batch for Saturday and that way everyone can taste them and see if they like them! (I think I have a few nuts left to do that with?)
