Question for all of you wonderful Post Op's....I was wondering, as I read some messages on the board, I see some post op's saying how much energy they have right after the surgery - some even as early as the week after surgery. Where does all this energy come from? I would think at that early out, the difference in how you feel would be somewhat worse, I mean after all we are talking about major surgery here, and then, as time went on and weight was lost, that you would then start feeling that new found energy.
Is it that you are so excited that you have had the surgery that it's a mind over matter thing? Are you feeling a new found energy? I hope that mine show's itself early on!!! I haven't seen it for such a long, long time.....
Any thoughts
Just wondering....

Hi Cj,
Taking a stab at this one as a pre-op. I wonder if it comes from such a dramatic fluid loss in a short time after surgery. One thing I have noticed as a diabetic, is when I would successfully low carb, not only would my blood sugar numbers get under control, but I would stop retaining any extra fluid and my energy would skyrocket. Interesting question! Are you so excited?? Your date is getting close!

Good question CJ. I lost my heart and energy in San Francisco. LOL
Only kidding. It will be a wonderful thing to have more energy to do all the necessary exercizing that'll get us motivated to WALK WALK WALK. !!
Maybe it's all the sugar getting out of the system. It must contaminate and posison us in alot of ways. The foods we eat today are so full of additives and junk that maybe once it's out of our system then we have more energy to do more?? Just a thought. EH
Carla,
I agree, I think that a large part is because of the loss of built up fluids and sugar purge.
The doc told me to expect to feel worse the second week than I did the first. He said that was normal. I did have the surge of energy early on then went through a slump about the 3rd week I believe. But even with the surge ... I did know that I had surgery. I needed time to rest in the afternoons early on. Got tired earlier in the evenings. But now at just 2 months ou****ch out!!! My hubby says that he has to stay out of my way or I am likely to run him over!!! I say ... full speed ahead or not at all!!! *grin*
BTW ~ FYI ~ IT is getting closer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HUGS,
