Cardiac catheterization/angioplasty
I found out yesterday that my cardiac testing didn't come out a-okay. I was a bit blindsided and in shock so I called the Doc back today. (who was wonderful to talk with me and explain again!).
There were two questionable areas of blood flow in my heart. One they could contribute to the ummm well.. my belly but they couldn't blow off two to the same reason without further testing. SO, I have to have a cardiac cath. Needless to say, I'm very upset/sad/ticked off etc....
I'm sure this is going to postpone my wls. I am heartbroken over that. I can't wait another 4 months if that's how long it will take for another appt. I'm not really caring that I could have an artery blockage, I just want MY WLS!!
Elissa, thx for your email. Now that I'm calmed down a bit, I can verbalize this a bit better.
Oh.. also I'm a bit po'd cause the stress test was mid Nov and I thought no news would be good news. Cause no one called me to say things were abnormal. oh well, I still want my WLS... pain in the butt aren't I??
btw..guess everyone knowing me won't stop me from whining after all!! lol
take care all.
Tina,
When is your cath? They should have the results right away.
My stress test showed two arteries almost completely blocked ... doc said they could not blow that off and I needed a cath right away to find out if they were going to do the angioplasty, angioplasty/with stints or if they were going to have to do a cardic bypass. A WHAT? I was looking to get a gastric bypass, NOT a Cardiac bypass!!! Needless to say, I was a little concerned. But I still tried to talk the doc in letting it slide ... That was a big NO-GO! He finally told me that with the results of my test I was looking at heart failure even before my surgery date. That I was ticking time bomb. Well, with that bit of info ... I decided that it would be in my favor to get the cath done after all!
But everything turned out alright ... during the cath, doc said my heart was as healthy as a healthy 16 year old girl. And cleared me for surgery right there in the Cath Proceedure Room!! YIPEE!!!
SOOO ... Surgery was still a go for me! BTW ~ everything seems to have worked out alright!
I am praying you will have the same outcome!
Hugs,
Tammy
Hi Tina,
I surely understand where you're coming from on this one. I had a scare also recently.Mine turned out to be ok and boy was I glad about that! I will keep good thoughts for you that yours turns out as well. Better safe than sorry. I know how anxious you are to have your surgery, ohhhhh do I know that feeling! Please keep updating when you find out what's going on..or even if you just wanna vent!
