Well I am beggining to think the surgery will be the easy part. I live in Long Neck, DE and have started my journey. I have been in contact with several Dr's in the area that do the surgery, but the nearest one has had his privleges revoked pending review. The Dr's in Seaford have instituted an age llimit and I am over it by 6 month. I have found a Dr. in Salisbury, MD who is very promising and Have an appointment in July. I have insurance with Alliance and I have called and so did the Dr's assistant. Under no cer****tances do they cover any type of weight loss surgery or any tests or Dr's fees associated with it. Ouch. The kicker is if I lived in Maryland (about 30 Miles away) they would have to pay for it because of a Maryland state law. But I am keeping the appointment and will find away to do it if the Dr. accepts me as a patient. Just an added note. my daughter had surgery about 15 months ago the one with the pancreatic bypass. She is doing wonderful, has lost 170 lbs (yes you read it right) is down from a 30/32 dress to a 12 and as she says I HAVE MY LIFE BACK.

Just keep praying.. There is a doctor here in New Castle county Her name is Dr Gail Wynn. She is great.. Even though she was not my surgeon who did my wls. They were not doing the wls here in new castle county when I had mine done in dec. 2000. I have lost 152lbs. I wore a size 26-28 and now I am in a size 12-14. Not bad.. Good Luck.. Tammy

Hi. I read you live in the Long Neck area. That is where I am too. It's to bad that you are over the age limit for Changing Lives but I wouldn't give up. I had my open RNY performed by Dr. Miller August 15, 2002 and they have a great program there. I have heard that Beebe Hospital is working on starting a program also so soon there will be even more options available for people. I know who the one is who had his privaleges revoked and from what i here this has happened to him at a few hospitals so I wouldn't go to him even if they were restored. That is just my opinion though. How old are you? I have heard that Changing Lives decided on a case by case basis between 55 and 60. Good luck to you. Carrie
