Yesterday, had my pre-op with my Plastic Surgeon(Joseph Thornton) i was kinda surprised they only do my type of plastic surgeries at Wilmington Hospital, but i am okay with it,  I go in on 3/2 a week from today at 6:30am. He informed me of how they were going to cut me from my left side (back) across the front to my right side (back), and as long i dont have complications from my  diabetes or anemia, i should only be admitted one, maybe two nights. I am so excited, i have waited 6 years to have this surgery and this time when my drs office requested the coverage for the surgery, they said yes at the first request. The first week, a little pain and discomfort, by week 2/3 he wants me out grocery shopping, by week 4 i should be healed,

I am actually on (medicaid) or Delaware Physicians Care, I am on it because back in April of last year i had a bad accident when i worked for the state of delaware and they terminated my position because state workers have no rights and after 182 days on STD (short term disability) they have that right.

I like Dr Peter's as a person, but i had some very major set backs under his care, he tried to make me as comfortable as possible, but through my own experiences, i would never let him touch me again and hes very lucky i didnt file a malpractice lawsuit agaisnt him, but again, thats my own personal experience, i underwent 3 major surgeries, all complications, and every time i had to go back into the hospital i ended back up in icu, (5/2005, 2/2006, 10/2006)

If your looking for a plastic surgeon to get your (tummy tuck) let me know and i will give you the info i have available,

I have only had my consult and am waiting to summer to have my TT, but I too will have it at Wilmington.  I am pretty sure they do it there since it is a Center of Excellence.  I would prefer Christiana, but it is not a COE.

I too had Dr. Peters with lots of complications and he continues to be wonderful.  I am sorry you did not have a great WLS experience, but it sounds like things are going well now!

Good luck with your plastics.

Amy,

Well tomorrow, March 2nd is my big day, like 12 hours away until i have to report, had some pre testing yesterday, i did find out that you have to have blood work and an ekg at least one month current with you upcoming surgery date. So thats a learning lesson, I met with my Pastor of the church i attend in Wilmington and he put me at peace with myself and helped with the fact my immediate family isnt supporting my choice to have the surgery done, infact no one is going with me tomorrow, i am being dropped off by a brother in law. weird situation!

When i am well enough i will post my recovery.

Sincerely,
Kenn M

I will keep you in my prayers tomorrow.
Sometimes know one else can understand why we do what we do, but we need to do somethings for ourselves.  I have told several people that I will be having plastics and all I hear is "you look great, you dont need that", but trust me none of them have seen the skin or felt the skin as I am on the treadmill!  I am sure you understand.

Is the procedure outpatient or are you staying for one night?  I will be staying one night so I assume you will too.

Get a good nights sleep!

Amy,

Yes,  i am staying one night, and lets pray its just one night, with my past history i have had to endure weeks or days at a time. I have not slept all night, i have 5 more hours to go until i have to be at the hospital (Wilmington) so i figured i will just stay up, i can sleep when i am under during surgery and in my room once its over. Your right , no one can understand what we are going thru until they walk in our shoes. If you like, my last name is Miller, and you can call me at wilmington hospital later wednesday and ask me how i made out.

Take Care! Good Luck with yours

So Kenn,
Give us an update!!!!!!!!!!!!! How are you feeling? How did the surgery go? So DPCI will do plastics??? YEA I am so glad to hear that because most likely being a single mom and in school full time I will still be on the insurance when I am ready for plastics. What did DPCI require in order to cover the surgery? I heard unless the excess skin is causing odor or irritations they won't cover but then again I hear of them covering it more and more these days.

I am considered a "light weight" but trust me I have HORRIBLE skin issues even now because of 4 c-sections and the constant loose/gain of weight over the years. My arms look like bats not to mention my JELLO stomach ugh.....

So give us an update !!!!!!!!!!!
