Let Me Help Those On Delaware Medicaid :)
If you have Delaware state insurance....don't sweat ANYTHING just make sure you are on DPCI. My first consult was Dec 26th and I am scheduled for surgery Feb 17th approx 6 wks ALL clearances are done. Pre Op apt with Dr Peters is Feb 2cn and all my pre-admittance to St Francis will be done on the 2cnd Surgery the 17th. I accomplished all the following within 3 weeks:
EKG
EGD
CHEST XRAY
BLOOD WORK
CARDIOLOGIST
PULMONOLOGIST
PSYCH EVAL
3 SUPPORT GROUPS
NUTRITION/DIETICIAN
PCP
ULTRASOUND OF HEART
UGH I'M SURE I'M MISSING A FEW MORE I DID LOL
I got on it, was able to schedule the whole month out for Clearances etc..
Now on my way to the loosers bench
DPCI will require you to loose 2% of your weight...in my case was 5lbs....
hope this helps someone out there

POI I had the gastric bypass (RNY). DPCI is awesome, I had my clearances done in 3.5 wks and surgery two weeks after it was SIMPLE....but they do require you to loose 2% of your weight and that's it and for me that was 5lbs LOL I say go for it while you have the insurance to do so. I had ZERO complications, I do not dump, I have no pain I had NO issues...I am 6wks out and down 26 total (20 lbs since surgery)
Thanks for the reply! If you don't mind, could you tell me where you had your surgery done and which doctor? Also, with all the things that need to be done, where is the best place to start? Do I go for a consult with the WLS doc first, then any tests, psych visits, etc. that are also necessary?
I'm a little scared of it all - a little bit b/c of the risks of surgery, but more scared of ME. I know I pretty much won't have a choice, but CAN I stop eating? Do or did you seek any psychiatric counseling, etc. for the mental part of obesity?
What was your recovery time like? I have a 1 year old and would have to arrange for help during and after surgery.
