Continued post op problems
So I am going on 18 months post op. I've lost an amazing amount of weight and generally feel good.
However since my RNY I have developed a problem. It started about 2 months post op severe abdomeinal pain. To make a long story short In the past 18 months I've had 10 ct scans, 2 hida scans, 2 ultra sounds, 2 xrays, 2 egds (second one discovered I have an ulcer) a small bowel follow through, lots of IV's, blood draws and ER trips, as well as 3 follow up surgery (the first discovered I had an internal hernia, the second discovered my bowel was wrapped around scar tissue and the most recent Dec 28th discovered nothing at all).
Dr. Irgau is completely baffled as to what is going on. We thought that after the second surgery when he found the bowel wrapped around the scar tissue that was the problem. For two months following that surgery I felt good. Then the pain all suddenly started again. It comes and goes with no rhyme or reason. Some days its mild and only lasts 20-30mins some days its severe and lasts for hours (usually resulting in me ending up in the ER and then the OR).
Dr Irgau had asked me to seek a second opinion which I did from Temple University and they too are baffled. Dr. Irgau wanted a fresh set of eyes to look inside. So on Dec 27th I had a severe episode of pain and Dr. Wynn (who knows nothing about my situation I've always seen Irgau or Peters) had me admitted. She did a diagnostic surgery on the 29th and as she put it my insides look PRISTINE.
I had a follow up with Dr. Irgau yesterday and he is truly baffled by this situation.
I can't say how awesome he and everyone have been to me at Chrias. I have called the emergency number many times and they are so fast to get back to me. Dr. Peters has come to the ER several times to see me. Dr. Irgau has had me admitted directly in order to bypass ER waits. Dr Irgau is so kind and nice when it comes to this whole thing. I told him yesterday I feel embarassed that I'm in his office so much.. He told me absolutely not and never feel that way. He is my doctor and it is his job to figure out what is going on and they are all I have.
I've actually been doing speaking for Chrias down in Dover because I want people t hear my story. I also want them to know that I DO NOT regret having RNY and if I knew then what i know now I would still do this all over. I am not angry, I take it in stride. I have faith in Dr. Irgau and Chrias. I enjoy doing the speaking because I feel like I'm helping people and they need to know the good and the bad.
