have you ever
been ashamed to go the a support group mtg since
anything you may say will seem like you are whining
people will cringe when you speak
it seems like it is ALL negative coming out of your mouth
people dont associate w you since the negative energy around you enters the room before you
i stopped going to support mtgs since
i am unemployed
am having stomach issues probably related to stress
i dont exercise
i dont belong to a gym
i dont eat well since i dont have the money (eating healthy is not cheap)
have not lost weight but am gaining
no health ins and being turned down or priced out for all possible avenues suggested
fearful of posting to the internet since i am lkng for work
it was on a job application "What networks / networking sites do you belong to?"
not sure what to do w myself since almost everything i try to strategize to do doesnt work.
trying to stay positive and focus BUT
didnt mean to rain your your parade too but wanted to voice my mind
thanks for reading

And yet, aren't you needing a support group more than anyone, Cecilia?
Your unemployment doesn't matter to the group.
Your lack of exercise might be helped by people who are in the same boat.
You don't have to belong to a gym to be part of a group.
Eating healthy on the cheap is a speciality of some people in the group. There's always plenty of recipes that use normal ingredients at each meeting.
You sound depressed. I thank you for posting here. I really hope you give a support group another try. There's always a mix of people there...and I don't mean genders and ages. There are those who are successful at losing, those who have gained after losing, those who have plateaued. There are those who have maintained goal weight, too.
You are NOT alone. Don't you forget this.
And don't worry about raining on anyone's parade. We're a brotherhood and sisterhood of people who had to make a drastic decision in order to attempt a life change. Some are more successful than others. But if we help each other along, more of us will succeed than if we were alone.
So try to get some help. Lean on us. :)
I wish you the best.

Ditto to everything Joe said.
It is difficult to stay focused and positive. Being with other Loosers keep me energized. We all have issues. Believe me when I say that. Noone at Healthy Changes Support Group judges, cause we all live in glass house. Been there, done that and bought a tee shirt. Course we are human. Noone is perfect.
If you need us we are here. You have reached out now follow through and come back to a meeting. We can't fix your issues but we understand and sympathize with you. We'll let you vent briefly then I know you will have more than 1 of us start to tell you how lucky you are. Advise is free. Take it or leave it.

Cecilia, I think I could have written your post!
I had my lap band surgery on 6/27/07. Lost about 35 to 40 lbs. I think in the 3 years since surgery I've been to maybe 2 support group meetings.
I started to gradually gain weight (poor diet, not exercising) then my band went funky. I had tests done and had to have the band completely drained. It took me awhile to realize that I had gained back everything with a band that was just there. Not tightened at all.
I started going back for fills last year but then just really didn't care. Still not exercising, still not eating properly. I think the worst thing I could have done was have that first beer! Now it's hard to drink plain water when I could have a beer. LOL
So last week I called the surgeon's office and made an appointment to get a fill in 2 weeks. (I'd have made it for that week but I'm going to Mexico tomorrow for 8 days and didn't want to possibly get sick while there.)
Also this is why I opened up this site once again and started to read some of the posts. I'm so ready to get back on the road to weight loss. It's got to work this time and this time I've got to work it.
Anyway, just wanted to put my 2 cents out there. You are not alone and neither am I.
Maybe we'll meet up at that meeting one night!
