Big, bad lunch!

OK, Chili's is definitely the place not to go without some forethought.  Decided to go out with some co-workers for lunch, and they chose Chilis since it's not too far from work.  I went there for lunch and decided I was tired of chicken and salads and how bad is a burger.  Well, I ate 3/4 of the burger and left all the fries.  It was not that good.  Greasy and large.  Got back and googled Chili's

Ground Peppercorn Burger w/ Bleu Cheese As Served 1520 caloies

So even taking off 400 calories for fries that is just too many calories.  I spent the rest of the day with a big piece of meat hanging in my stomach.  I'm actually lucky I didn't dump off all that grease.  Lessons learned.  Was it worth it...  No, and my running partner made me pay for it tonight with a 5-mile run.  So back to planning and thinking before I go out on my next luncheon. I'll be workng this off the holiday weekend.  Just wanted to be accountable to all my DE buddies.

Chili's is definately not one of my favorite places to eat.  I always tend to get sick there.
Last night, we ate at Buffalo Wild Wings.  For me, its the last time I will eat there. Split a burger with my husband and it was so dry, it didn't stay down long and what did, sat in my stomach way too long.  I was miserable.  I don't want to even think about calories... ok, I'll look....
900 calories for just the burger!  I consumed about 1/3 of the burger.  Still too many calores.
Rob, thanks for opeining my eyes to dining out.

Don't want to put a downer on eating out!  Just wanted to remind people to be careful out there.  It's so important to make sure what we enjoy it and continue to make wise choices.

I have been surprized many times with the hidden calories that are in restaurant food.....plus all the extra sodium.

They butter the rolls before they toast them and use them for the hambergers.  I have gotten to where I ask for a plain dry roll or plain toast when I order a sandwich.

I have found that I am best when I order a salad with the dressing on the side.

Rob, I don't think you are a downer, just an eye opener.  You think you have a wise choice and its not so wise after all.  I would never have thought to look at the calories.  Surprising, very surprising!

Rosey, I think you are correct.  A salad is a good choice if you get the dressing on the side.  It's the dressing that can over load the calories.

I haven't been to Chili's in a very long time because it always seemed that their food was too heavy and greasy for me even before surgery.   When Applebee's first came "on the scene" I wasn't such a huge fan of their food either. But, in the past few years, things have improved.  and now they even have calories, fat and carbs listed on the menu for each item.  Which makes it so much easier to make the healthy choice.
