Howdy! I am a patient of Dr Wynn's ...I am finishing all my dr appts in the next week for my clearance for BC/ BS of De...tentative lap band surgery is 5/24/10. I was wondering if anyone
has any advice for me as I near the big day. Also, does anyone have any experience with how fast BCBS of De approves these surgeries.....I am worried about that. Thanks to all and
I'd love to hear any advice, feedback you can offer....

First off.  Welcome to the board.  I love Dr. Wynn.  Not much advice on BC since my surgery was over six years ago, and things change so much.

Best advice is to try not to stress too much.  Whatever happens will happen.  We have had people not get their clearance till the day prior to surgery.  The staff at CHRIAS will work their best to get the approvals.  The other advice I have is to listen and follow the rules that the surgeons and nutritionists have given you.  They really do work.

We all look forward to having you join us on the loser's bench this month.

First off, Welcome and Congratulations!  Although, my journey has not been "easy" or "normal" I would do it again tomorrow.  Anyway, I have BCBS and had a problem with my pulmonologist clearance. Mistee sent in my papers (w/o the pulmonary clearance) on Tuesday and I received a call the Friday before my Monday surgery.  (I must admit I was so happy all I could do was scream!)
CHRIAS is also wonderful and will help in any way they can!

I have to say I know there are different BCBS policies, but they have bee fantastic through EVERYTHING.  If a case manager calls you from BCBS it is not b/c anything is wrong.  Kim is my case manager and she has been a great source of support!
