if at a ballpark or picnic or camping - how do you handle the social setting of eating a burger and/or hot dog?

do you just hide the fact you are eating the dog from the bun?
put the burger on a plate and eat w a fork?

thought i would ask?

I would put either (or maybe both) of them on a plate and eat them with a fork.  I am also not opposed to eating either one straight off a fork (or stick).

I love hot dogs. I have no issues eating just the dog/onions and tossing the bun. I do it all the time.  When I goto Deer Head I get a single with secret sauce and onions, eat a little bun, toss it then eat the rest with a fork. (sloppy)  I'm still not crazy over hamburgers unless they have lots of mayo and ketchup on it.

I don't apoligize any more for the way I eat. I don't even explain any more. I cooked most meals while I was in Hawaii, Yeah for Costco's. I was treated to an awesome evening at The Trump Hotel. I knew I was in trouble as soon as I got the menu. NO SOUP. I studied it hard and asked the waitress questions numerous times and ended up with Grilled aspargus and  a Lobster salad that was to die for. I was only able to eat 1/2 of both and brought the rest home for lunch the next day.

It's still all about choices. Never a day goes by that I forget why I had WLS. I am sooooo grateful that I did. Everytime I get on a plane I am reminded that I no longer need that darn extension. I managed to bring enough food to eat for that long 11 hr flight. Airport food is so expensive and not necessarily healthy.

Have fun, laugh and live life. ((HUGS)) Elissa

Elissa, Hawaii ! I am so jealous. Do you go there every year ? About the bun on not ! I look at it this way. We all make daily choices. Somedays I eat part of a bun but most days I don't.   I really enjoy mine on a plate with condiments or hey I hate to say it but my fingers work well at a BBQ.  Take care all. See you lighter. Joanne

Hi Joanne, glad to see you back. How are you and the Debstar? Hope you are both doing okay.
We go every other year to Hawaii. It was good. Hard to be away that long though. Still have my Mom and daughter, grandkids to worry about.  Mom got worse while I was gone. But my DH and I really needed to get away. So I start back to work tomorrow. At least I think I still have a job.
These boards needed some activity. ((HUGS)) Elissa

Elissa, The Debstar is doing good. Down to about 178 lbs. So , So much energy.  She had a ruff winter. Her Boyfriend had some health issues. He was in ICU for over a month. was on a vent and now has a trac. He is doing good now. She is working one day a week taking care of the 92 year old man we work for. ( home care ). She is doing the peewee class at church on sundays. She loves working with little kids. She also helps me with my grandkids when I work.  Keeping busy. Glad you enjoyed your trip. Yes you need a break  once in a while. We are going to Niagara Falls Mother's day weekend for our break. Eight of us going with no kids. Can't wait ! I need a break too. She you lighter. Joanne

Most of the time, I eat the bun.  If I don't feel like a bun, then I'll use it to hold my hot dog/burger, and just pull bits of it off as I eat, exposing the meat.

If I was at a picnic where there was cutlery available, I'd skip the bun and just use a knife and fork.  It's no big deal not to eat a bun.  You just say no thanks, and move on.

Yup this. Low carb is so common these days, no one would even question why you aren't eating the bun.
