Attention All Chrias Members...
I was told upfront today @ CHRIAS when I made my first post-op appointment that I would be meeting with an NP when I have my first follow-up visit. I'm fine with it. Nurse practitioners are really the backbone of healhcare, I think, and they're trained to notice things that might be out of the ordinary so you can see a doctor if you need to.
Basically, they're only looking for complications. They'll go down a list of possible symptoms and if you're good, then you're good. If you have symptoms, you probably should have called the surgeon anyway, but the NP should be able to properly escalate the situation if he/she comes across them.

Like I said I have no problem with Edward (Dr. Irgau's NP), I do have a problem however with the other woman... Can't think of her name Dr. Wynn's NP. She has really short hair. She has horrible bedside manner, and just is over unpleasant.
I've now spoke with two lap band patients who said she spent 15 to 20 minutes poking and proding them trying to do a fill but could never find the port and they ended up leaving with no fill.

My first follow up was with Edwards. I had expected to see Peters. My next follow up was with Peters and I have since had several complications so I usually see Peters. This Wednesday and one day when Peters had ER surgery I saw Shiela. Although she did not have the greatest bedside manner she was very thorough and was quick to go get Peters or to call him for clarification as I am not a "normal" situation right now.
Wow... I too have seen the PA's in the office, both Edward and Shelia. Actually I was kinda surprised to see Edward on my first post op visit... thought he asked a lot of questions regarding my surgery.. like where and when... I thought he should have known that if he had read my chart... but Shelia was great... She was so nice and encouraging...
