Pre-Op Suggestions Please? :)

With my surgery on March 15th, I'm in my final countdown till surgery! I've started to buy things that I know will be a staple to my first days of learning how to be a new me, and wanted to know if anyone else had suggestions. Acme was having a sale on their applesauce, so I bought four containers at $1 a piece. Also, they had a Orange Topicana Light I thought I could mix some protein powders with. I'm just a person who prepares for things, and I'm sure other people have things they couldn't live without initially.  I know I'll have to get a pill crusher for my probiotic and other meds I'll have to take afterwards, but anything else??

I wouldn't buy a lot in the way of food products at this point.  I bought the no sugar added applesauce and after surgery couldn't stand the taste of it.  The Tropicana Juice may be too much sugar.  I remember a "no juice" rule and haven't touched the stuff.
Pre surgery, I bought the chewable calcium citrate with vitamin D, and a chewable centrum and the sublingual B12 from drugstore.com.  I picked up the liquid Omega 3 at the GNC and bought some Healthwise protein drink mixes at PMRI.  They also have them at the Chrias office.
I bought the Unjury powdered proteins and drank them after surgery, but I'm a month out now, and I can't stand them anymore.  I have switched to the Isopure clear protein drinks.
The point is, your tastes will change.  They change from pre-surgery to post. And they change from day to day.  I tried cottage cheese toward the end of my pureed diet and thought "this is great!  I can pack in the protein and enjoy this for lunch everyday!"  Two days later I couldn't even look at cottage cheese without getting a bit queasy.  Same thing happened with pureed chicken and broth.  First day I thought it was the yummiest thing.  Next day, couldn't stand it.
So don't break the bank.  Get the essential meds and figure out the foods on a trial by taste basis.  If you miss coffee in the morning, I suggest the Cappucinno mixes.  They have Vanilla and Amaretto at the Chrias shop.  Delish!  Protein enriched!  And a nice way to wake up your tummy in the morning.

Tropicana light is fine  I still drink it daily.  Small pills, smaller than an M&M should go down with no difficulty after about a week.  I have never had to crush meds.  Lap band folk do not have malabsorption, so I take 2 adult gummy bear one a day vits a day, a small Vit D2000units daily, in oil, a B12 1000units sublingual.  Keep your protein around 60 grms a day, fluid intake 60-100 oz/day and follow your surgeons progressive diet.  After about a month you will be totally on real food and ready for a fill.  Be patient.  It can take many fills before the band does its job.  If you work with it and your MD you will do fine.  Good luck!
