I just want to say hello to everyone. It seems that everyone is in a tight knit in which I like that.
I am going through the gastric bypass on 23rd and can not wait.  I have my mother coming down from Connecticut to take care of me and leave the pressure from my husband.  He is the only one that is nervous. But before surgery I have started my liquid diet Opifast. I hate it. I am doing well on this but it is really hard.  I can only drink WATER..... So when I can hungry I grap a bottle of water. I started on this Saturday and will have to be on this for 14 days and I am counting the days. But the good side I have lost 6 pounds from Saturday.  After  that is all over then comes my CLEAR liquid diet for 2 days and then my SURGERY date. That is what keeps me going. This was a journey of 6 months but it was all worth it. I was complaining the first 3 months and how much I knew well I was wrong. What I know now and keep on knowing is wonderful.
I have a wonderful husband, 21 years and all the support from my family and friends, that I know that I will be fine. I have that right attuide. Women are always strong. But when my husband worried that makes me even strong and vise versa. I'll keep in touch.  Just want to be in part of your group.

Hi Maureen,

Congratulations on your up coming surgery.  The 23rd will be here before you know it!  Dr. I is a sweetheart.  Feel at ease with him.  The pre op diet is the worst, just remember why you're doing this and it seems to all be not so bad.
Keep in touch with us and let us know how you are doing.
We have a support group meeting on the 17th at Victory Fellowship Church (next to Walmart on rt 40) at 7pm.  It would be great if you attended.

Good luck!!
Judy

There is a website that is a really neat tool -- you type in your current weight, height, measurements, etc. and it will track your progress.

It will also predict how much weight you'll lose each month -- you have to type in your age and level of activity, etc.

www.thinnerself.com

It is a good tool to use when you hit plateaus and don't see the scale moving down for weeks at a time (this happens to a lot of us) -- it will show you are still losing INCHES!

This website unfortunately only works for the RNY surgery, not lapbanders.

Good luck!

Congrats to your up coming surgery! It will come faster then what you think!
About the OPIFAST! Ewww i feel your pain. when i was reading your post and saw that "WORD" it just made my tummy turn! i had to do it for 2 weeks- and after day 2 i couldnt do it any more! so i called the Dr. Office telling them i couldnt handle it.. So i went  on clear unsweet liquids from then on! it was tough but hey! i had to do it! Maybe try mixing it with ice and blending it up vs just plain boring water? Maureen, First congradulations on making the decision to take this journey and WELCOME TO OUR GROUP !  You will find we are like family here. Let me tell you, your husband sounds like mine was before I had my surgery. He just loves you so much and is scared he will lose you. It took my husband 6 months after surgery to finally say something about it. He supported me totally and knew it was something I really wanted but he was scared. Have your hubby come to a support group with you, if he will. Like everyone else here I strongly recommend the group at Victory Fellowship. I hope to see many post from you as you start this journey. Remember all roads have potholes so we are here to hear  it all and share our bumps along the way. See you lighter. Joanne
