Gastric Bypass after a Lapband ???
Adamary, It can be done. The problem is sometimes it is harder to get the insurance company to pay for a second surgery. Your Dr's office should be able to guide you even if they don't do revisions theirself. Is going from a lapband to RNY considered a revision ? I had RNY and am looking into a revision. I was offered 3 choices. The lapband over the RNY was one but the Dr. said that would be the hardest to get approved. I have to do many things to get the revision approved. More than I did with my first surgery. It is worth it to me. I will do whatever I need to do for the next 6 months. See you lighter. Joanne
If the Delaware surgeons won't do a revision from LapBand to RNY, you should really consider looking into the DS. If you qualify for the RNY, you qualify for the DS, and it has a much easier post-op lifestyle than the RNY.
One caveat - the information that is listed here on OH about the DS is misleading and outdated. Because of this, I invite you to come over and visit the DS forum! Or drop me a line - I'm happy to answer any questions you might have.
