Is is getting higher with the stress of the economy and the holidays ?  What are you doing to keep it in control?

I have a pulse.  It runs around 88-90 unless I am very relaxed, then it drops to around 68-70.  LOL!

I've worked nearly 30 hours over 3 days since starting my new job on Wednesday.  It would be close to 38 if I hadn't left early on Friday.  I had another episode of "mother nature hates me" hemmoraging and had to go to the doctor.  She pumped me full of hormones and told me to stay off my feet the rest of the day, just because I was dehydrated and my blood pressure was so low...88/68.  An all day fluid challenge and some caffeine took care of that.  I was scared to death I would get canned for having an issue that made me have to leave early on my third day of work.  I worried over nothing because all is well.  The hormones did their job so I could do MINE.  I am now on the surgery schedule for the endometrial ablation.  I'll have it done on January 12.  I will be so glad to get this mess over with.

After work, I made some Chili Mac-n-Cheese with a half and half mixture of beef and venison.  The family loves it so I made a ton.  Ed and I can't eat very much because of the pasta being so filling but it's really high in protein and lowfat.  We just kind of snack on it for a few days, if it's even around that long.

Not much else is going on here really.  I'm just trying to stay focused on the new job and look forward to getting regular paychecks again.

My pulse has went to normal now. It has been a very busy week for me. I returned to work fulltime on Monday, Spent 2 days moving my son with girlfriend drama.Yesterday was a very busy day. The Boy Scouts raked my yard. Thank You Kathy and Ed . They did a great job and went beyond. I had to drop of my grandkids to their mom before Debbie and I headed North to Niki's Christmas Party. We had a good time there. It was so nice to see everyone. We got home at 1:00 a.m.  Then Alexus had drama. She is going thru thinking I am going to die because PopPop died. I talked to her for over an hour. It appears kids are saying things to her at school. Kids can be so mean today. I think I am going to make Potato Soup for the Church Luncheon today. I have alot of running to do after Church and I have to be back to Church by 7p.m. for an Angel service where we put Angels on a tree in memory of loved ones who have past. I know this is going to be hard on Debbie and myself but we need to do it. My dryer went on the blink friday. Luckily my son has one in storage so my nephew is going to bring his matching set to me since it is almost new and he will sell my washer that is in like new condition . If anyone knows anyone who needs one let me know. Well I have to get making my soup. See you lighter. Joanne

Hi Amy,
Thanks for asking about the new job.  It's the kind of work I have always done...behind the scenes, in the back of the house prep work.  Sundays are brunch day at Victoria's and very busy.  Everyone else knows exactly what to do and in what order to do it, so I felt kind of out of place, so each time I finished something, I would ask what I should do next.   That made me feel like maybe they thought I didn't know what I was doing.  I DID get a little irked about the cleaning of the kitchen.  Each day I would ask what I could do next and they'd say, "we look good, you can go home." So yesterday after brunch was over, the other people broke it down and put everything away,  One of the managers had indicated earlier that he had a couple of things he wanted me to do for a party the next day so I'm standing there waiting for him to tell me what he needed done.  Finally he said, "Oh, BTW, it is our responsibility every day that we work, to take out ALL trash, roll up ALL the mats (there are 8 of them) and sweep, mop, and put all the mats back.  We all do it together and help each other every day."  Then everyone else left.   So there I was, the very first one to clock in and the last one to clock out.  I always clean up my own station and look around for other stuff that needs to be done, but both managers and the other prep cook left it all for me, AFTER saying "we help each other."  I was a little peeved to say the least.  The work is no big deal but it made me feel stupid because all week I had been leaving when they told me to without ever telling me about the end of shift cleaning---until the busiest, messiest day of the week.  One of the night line cooks did help me with the trash.  I was there almost an hour after everyone else had gone home.  Well, now I know and I told the night manager when she came in that I wish someone had told me on my first day.

The chili-mac is gone.  Like I said, it's never around here for very long.  I use a pound of ground chuck and a pound of ground venison, 1/4 cup of dehydrated onions.  Brown the meat with the onions in it.  Don't drain the meat.  Then add 2 packets of McCormick Mild chili seasoning, 3 TBS ground cumin, seasoned salt and black pepper to taste , 1 can of Hunt's traditional spaghetti sauce, and 2 small cans of Hormel Chili-we use the one with no beans---too gassy but you can put them in for extra protein. Then I cook a 1 pound box of macaroni, drain it and put it back in the pot.  For the cheese, you can use the jarred cheddar cheese sauce or steal 2 or 3 packs from mac-n-cheese dinners.  Add it to the hot macaroni, then mix the chili mixture into it.  We like it extra cheesy so I always throw some shredded cheddar into it at the end.  Yummy.

I have Mondays and Tuesdays off so I plan to do laundry today and get a few other chores done.  I have to start my antibiotic today too.  My urine culture was positive for bacteria that they believe is a kidney infection.  The symptoms have been going on for about 3 months and they finally isolated it.  It was hard to figure out because I have been symptom free except for a bad odor and back pain, which is chronic with my arthritis anyways.

Joanne, I am glad the guys did a good job for you.  They really are good kids, as well as great boy scouts.  We are doing the Caroling at Holly Lakes next weekend. Come on by and sing a few carols with us.  As much as I hate snow, I hope we get a few little flurries to enhance the spirit, you know?
