Hello from Florida

Hi everyone,

Just droppin' in before I start my adventures today. I am having a great time, and am enjoying the relaxing atmosphere and the gorgeous scenery.

Things are going well...I guess the big news is/was that I fit on my plane seat (I was really nervous/worried/anxious about that), and the bonus NSV is that I didn't need a seat belt extender! Hooray for me!  I had no problem asking for one if I needed it, but I was able to expand that "regular" one out to it's full width, and after a small struggle, clicked that sucker in and away I went! Yippee!!

The bad news is that I got a stuck episode at the airport in Miami. I was stupid and had a few bites of a Neely's barbecue pork sandwich (just the pork). I was hungry and it smelled too good to pass up. I guess after flying from Philly, and the stress of traveling, it was just too much. Ended up sliming on the plane before takeoff from Memphis to Fort Walton Beach...thank goodness 1) that there was no one else in my row of seats, and 2) that the plane provides motion control sickness bags. I ended up taking a few extra with me, in case I need them while out & about this week (especially since I am using my host's car...I don't want to get sick in it!).

Speaking of food, I have been enjoying some delicious seafood and have been walking some, too. Not as much as I thought I would, but I am going to change that. The weather was rainy on Thurs & Fri, but beautiful Sat & Sun. It's cool (high around 65) today and very windy, but I am determined to get in a walk. I did walk once at night for about 30 minutes, and took a 45 minute walk on Friday after the rain left.

I'm going to try to post some pix later, but the outdoors is calling me...

You sound like your having fun IM jealous.   Enjoy the oudoors as much as you can.  enjoy the rest of your vacation and have  a safe trip home.


Hows everyone else doing this monday afternoon?  Im thinking about taking a bike ride if i can get the motivation....right now its just a thought not a plan...LOL.

I'm definitely trying to maximize my outdoor time! It's not hard to do here on the gulf of Mexico! Lots of parks to explore, etc.

Glad Leslie is having a great time......slimming, I too had an episode today, never fun!  I have to get back on the band wagon, I have been very bad, eating everything that I shouldn't...yuck.  However the band is forgiving, and I am going to get with the program.

Monday id never a good day......they keep on getting better until Friday arrives!

Hi Barbara,

Well...I don't know about slimming...I got a piece of key lime pie last night. Only ate half of it, and the rest is waiting for me in the fridge for later. It was sooooooo good! I also am planning on going to a restaurant that I remember from 6 years ago (when I was here last) that has this delicious orange sunshine cake. I haven't forgotten it, and I understand it's still available and still as yummy.  And of course, none of it is sugar free. Oh well!

Sorry to hear about your stuck episode. I admire your determination to get back on track! I'm sure you will be successful with that.

You're welcome for the update. I hope I don't come off as boastful...I'm just so excited to be here and am in awe of the scenery.

It's chilly here this morning...about 40 degrees (after a low of 38), and it's supposed to reach a high of 65 or so today. The temps are supposed to get to the low to mid 70's Thurs & Fri, so I think I will go on my dolphin cruise and maybe snorkeling at the end of the week.

Don't know what I will do today. Maybe just sit on the deck (or the beach) and read. Or maybe do some more exploring. Maybe both. Who knows? I am already dreading going back to work next week...where I **have** to do things at a certain time and in a certain way. I love this "not having a schedule" thing.

Anyhow, I am enjoying the sun, and I did see where you guys up north are not having the best weather. I hope it clears up a little before Saturday (when I come home).

Leslie, I am very proud of you  !!!!! You boast all you want. If we were in Sunny Florida we would boast too. Enjoy your vacation. It goes by to fast. See all you can . Take lots of pictures. Thanks for your "warm" wishes (no pun intended...I understand it's cold in DE) regarding my vacation. Tomorrow (Friday) is my last day; I head home on Saturday morning. Boo hoo! You are SO RIGHT...next week I will be wanting to be here. I guess I'll have to start saving pennies for my next visit, huh? I have taken lots and lots and lots of photos; went on a sunset dolphin cruise this afternoon...it was terrific! I can't believe it's almost over.

And, also, thanks for your kind words about no longer being a lurker! I guess I am out of my shell now, I like the sound of Leslie the Loser better...although a year ago I would have been interpreting "loser" the other way...not the WLS way!

Sounds like you are having a GREAT Time and that is good....Life is too SHORT not to enjoy.  Live your life like there will be no tomorrow - then you know that things are good for you. 

I haven't been that far south in awhile - an alligator sightings?
