Thursday Roll Call
Good afternoon Delaware ! It is a little chilly outside in Lower Slower delaware but nice. Today is going to be a relaxing day for me. I did alot yesterday so today I'm taking it easy. Ms. Helen is coming over to have dinner with us. She is 84 and Bob's best bud. We are going to have spaghetti. Bob had a hard time eating this morning. He ending up eating pudding and jello. I am going to sneak in some unflavored protein powder for his lunch. Since most of you guys have been in soft diets do you have any sujestions as to what would be good to feed him. He has a problem with swallowing due to the throat cancer. I got to go fix lunch so I will make this short. Hope all has a blessed day and What's for Dinner today ? See you lighter. Joanne
Dinner tonight wasnt the best for me. I ve had 3 hours of sleep since yesterday at 1pm so cooking wasnt on my mind. I had 2 of those frozen mini bagel pizzas. Im now watching the phillies game hoping for a turn around but dotn think its gonna happen. Then i can take a hot shower and sleep in my own bed for an actual 8 hrs.YEAHHHHH.
Can he have applsauce....its one of my favorites or a really ripe banana mashed up. I tell you wendys chili blended in the blender is really good if he can have everything in it and it has protein too.

Joanne,
Amy suggested applesauce, a great soft food. You can also give him cream soups, smooth hot cereal such as cream of wheat or oatmeal made a little runny. Soft scrambled eggs are a good one, made with a little milk so they don't get stiff but cook all the way through. There's always mashed potatoes and gravy, which you can add protein powder to. You may even consider trying some of the stage 2 baby food dinners and vegetables. I ate some of them and if you add some salt or Mrs. Dash, they aren't too bad. Any of the baby food fruits and desserts are really good. Carnation instant breakfast, pudding, yogurt, canned beef stew (you can mash up the vegetables in it), refried beans....anything that can be mushed or pureed.
Thursday dinner was a free-for-all since we have scouts on Thursdays. We just grab and go for the most part. We munched on the leftover jerk chicken from Tuesday and the meat loaf from Wednesday. Ed and I had scrapple and eggs for breakfast, I ate some meat loaf for lunch, and the rest of the jerk chicken for dinner. I squeezed in a yogurt and an almond crunch granola bar. Toast with peanut butter was my night time snack.
November 15 is set in stone for the yard work, but I don't have an exact count yet of how many scouts will be there. I will tell you that -most- of the troop will be there, except for a few of the older ones who have other scout committments and jobs. We will try to complete the planning at next week's meeting. This week, the boys had to complete a booklet of questions about their hike through valley forge so they can get their medals, so we ran out of time.
