Weekend roll call
Good morning DE folks! We have been up and about since 7am this morning. WHY do my children, who are hard to get out of bed any other (school) morning, get up at the crack of dawn on weekends? Waaaaah, nobody told me when you have children you no longer get to sleep in on Saturdays (or any other days for that matter).
We are doing a massive housecleaning swipe until lunch . . . and I've promised both of them that we'll head down to the Oktoberfest at the elementary school after that IF and ONLY IF they do their chores. Let the wars begin.
I started off today with protein for breakfast in the form of a 2-egg omelette with cheese and green chile peppers. I just had a mini-whole-wheat bagel with cream cheese for a snack. I'm going to have a Lean Cuisine for lunch and haven't yet decided about dinner. Going to try and stay occupied today, there's a lot of housework to be done PLUS cleaning out closets and pulling out winter stuff.
Looks like it's going to be a nice day here, cloudy though, with a bit of wind and chill in the air. I can remember pre-surgery that I was always so overheated with the excess weight, I would fan around year-round in shorts and a t-shirt. Now I am the exact opposite -- I'm already sporting my winter footie-socks and my fleece bathrobe/pajamas (yes at 10:35 I am still in my p.js. ha-ha). When I lost all that fat I lost my "insulation."
Hope everyone has a good day.

BJ, Hope you got all that work done. My son took my grandkids to the October Fest too. I had to call him to come back for our dog ( Cuttles) died under Bob's bed. The Hospice Chaplin happened to stop by when all the comotion was going on so he did a little service for Cuddles after they buried her. Bob was very upset for that was his baby. She wouldn't eat. She stopped eating when Bob did. I think she was going thru a depression. It was a bad day yesterday but today was a nice quite peaceful day with just me and Bob here. I have lost my insulation too. My fleece robe and sleepers is my favorite friend. See you lighter. Joanne
Hi Joanne, I did see Alexis up at the school yesterday . . . gave her our leftover tickets on our way out.
I am so sorry to hear about your dog, that is so sad. Very nice that you were able to have a service for her. Happy to hear you had a better day today!
I didn't get everything done yesterday, ran out of steam. And today have done absolutely *nothing* bu****ch football (go 'Skins!)
I have some paperwork that I should be doing for work but can't seem to get motivated today.

Good Monday Morning Delaware! Our weekend was really wonderful. We had our trip to Valley Forge with Troop 105. We left our "hub" (Burton Realty/Mick's Classic Carpet) at 6 pm Friday and arrived and Delmont Boy Scout Camp in Pennsburg, PA at around 9:30 pm. After sweeping all the spider webs and spiders out of the wooden bunks, we set our sleeping gear up, had a light snack and then it was lights out. A big day was coming with the 10 mile hike scheduled for Saturday. We made the 25 mile trip to Valley Forge and were there by shortly after 9 am. After visiting the welcome center and the theater for a short program, the hike began. I had planned to stay back because the trails were thought to be rough terrain with lots of hills and unlevel ground. The arthritis in my back and hips really limits what I can do. Upon seeing that the walking trail had been paved, I decided to go along. I was able to walk about 4 1/2 miles before the pain kicked in. After giving myself a big pat on the back for going that far, I had one of the non-walking leaders drive me back to the parking lot area. I did what I could do and more...after getting back to my car, I napped for about an hour and walked another mile or so. WOW. So I think I did pretty good. After everyone else got back form the 10 mile walk, we returned to camp and I prepared the spaghetti dinner for all. The boys were great and a good time was had by everyone. The weather was beautiful...a little cold but the blue skies and fall colors were fabulous. We departed camp at around 9 am and were back on Longneck by 11:45 Sunday. My hips were very stiff and painful so I took a muscle relaxer and rested myself. Still sore and stiff this morning but it's a good feeling to know I was able to go as far as I did. I really enjoy these outings with the Troop and look forward to them every month.
I hope everyone has a good week, and Joanne...sorry to heare about Cuddles.
