Good morning folks,

It's very windy here in lower/slower/DE this morning . . . and it looks like rain for the next few days. Waaaaaah -- I don't want the warm weather to go away -- I hate being cold LOL!

My new job is going really, really well. I like what I'm doing, I like my co-workers, I have a flexible schedule that is allowing me to get the kids off to school in the mornings and be here to fight over homework and chores when they get home.

I have had a couple of crazy things going on in my personal life involving the kid's absent father, etc. but for the first time in recent history I have really been recognizing the urge to eat out of stress and anxiety rather than out of true hunger.

I have had myself on a strict food schedule for about a week now: a protein-filled breakfast, a Lean Cuisine-type meal for lunch, a snack in the afternoon (usually a piece of fruit or a yogurt) and then a portion-controlled dinner, whatever I make for the family, just not a huge plate of it. Oh, and heavy on the vegetables and not the carbs and pasta! Also I am sticking to my new rule of no snacking after dinner, that was killing me.

Drum roll . . . I have lost 4 pounds since I started buckling down. Woohooooooo. It's about time that scale started going south instead of climbing climbing climbing hahaha.

I still haven't ramped up my exercise and walking to where I need to be, there's always some excuse. But I am making slow progress and getting back on track. I want to lose at least five more pounds by my Halloween goal.

We talked about goal-setting at our last meeting here in Long Neck . . . I wanted to add a tiny goal to my list:

- START DRINKING EIGHT GLASSES OF WATER A DAY!!!!!!!

What's your Halloween goal, Delaware?

HI everyone!

BJ, I am so happy to hear about your job and that all is going well with it!!  Good for you!!!  Congrats on your weight loss-I know you were really concerned about the lbs you have gained but it sounds like you are getting on the right track again.

I talked to Joanne on Monday to let her know I wasn't going to the gym that night (I have been picking her up on my way) and she said her hubby wasn't doing well again.  I told her to call me if things got better for me to get her to go to the gym last night but I did not hear from her.  Please keep Joanne and her family in your prayers.

I have been walking on my lunch hour as I don't seem to get  to the gym as much as I would like . The walk gives me a break out of the office and at least I get some exercising in.

I need to drink more water too-I have problems with that.  I keep water on my desk at all times during the week but weekends I don't drink it like I should.

Hope everyone has a good day-Debbie

BJ, You do have to check it out. I think once you see it you will really want to go as an exercise buddy. And think of it this way you will have your foot in the door and thats a start. It would really be cool to go all together. I am suppose to get an aid so I will be able to start back soon. Right now I have just not wanted to leave Bob's side. Remember these are just bumps in the road on this journey. We can and will make it. See you lighter. Joanne

BJ,
Congrats on trying to get back on track and losing some weight.  That's great!

As far as goal setting for me, I don't necessarily set a specific goal, but just try to maintain things as I go along.  I have times when the ulcer hurts so bad that the only thing that makes the pain subside is unfortunately bad food...breads, crackers, stuff like that.  Subsequently, I gain a few pounds but I have to weigh the ulcer pain against the potential 4 or 5 pound gain. Sorry, but I will take the gain any day.  Once I get the ulcer back under control, 2 or 3 days "on the program" of high protein and no carbs, and the weight comes back off.  I know I am bouncing up and down alot but that is what I deal with because of the stupid ulcer.

I get tons of fluids in, mostly via ice-chewing.  I chew it all day, every day.  I know the "pica" is from my iron deficiency but has been a blessing in disguise.  I get all my fluid requirements in without getting full, so I can still eat.  I call the giant cups of ice my "popcorn."

My goal, for what it's worth is to get back on my cardiac meds.  I stopped taking everything back in the beginning of August because the meds hurt my ulcer.  I am working on the schedule I have to use for the times I need to take this, that, and the other and still be able to take the ulcer meds.  Sounds funny, but it's exhausting.  LOL.  Seems like I am taking a pill every couple of hours.
