Mandy, I knew you would like that meeting.  The best group of people around. I love them all there. Debbie and I really miss coming up for that one but right now we can't get away together due to Bob's health. Next meeting tell all we are thinking about them and miss them. They know we will be back soon. Who was the Star this month and who had it last month ? Keep me informed.  As for the chocolate. I love the protein hot chocolate. I still use it every morning in my coffee. See you lighter. Joanne

It was nice to meet you at the meeting.  Two standbys I used during the pureed stage were chili and oatmeal (just not together).  Don't stock up on too much prior to surgery, because it is very common for the tastebuds to change.  Then your left with a cabinet full of stuff you'll never use.
Good luck and hang in there.

Indeed it was chilly this morning!  I'm out of the house before 6am and I was freezing.
My goal for next month is to attend the support group meeting at the Victory Christian Fellowship.  I live right down the road.
Mandy, I hope you can make it next month so I can meet ya!
I just ordered a new protein powder.  Its an egg based protein with 22 gr of protein per scoop or equal to 7 egg whites.
It's suppose to be vanilla egg custard flavored.  I hope I won't be too disappointed with it.  I just can't stomach the whey protein, it just turns my stomach.

Good morning everyone....rather, good Thursday morning.  Sorry, I am up anywhere between  1 a.m. and 3 a.m. and that's when I read my OH message board so I am always several hours late responding to the Roll Call.

Wednesday found me restoring a box full of cast iron cookware that Ed and I found in a shed here in Creekside.  The house was being torn down and the owners let us have whatever we wanted from the shed before they took it down.  What treasures we found in there.  People have no idea how wonderful cast iron is.  They figure once it gets rusty it's no good.  BONK!!!  We put the box of pans in the storage unit for a couple of years.  Now that we are trying to get rid of junk in the unit, we brought the pans home.  First, I baked them upside down at 350 degrees for about 90 minutes.  Once they cooled, I soaked them in the sink, completely submerged in a half and half solution of vinegar and water, for about 2 hours.  They actually looked like they were sizzling as the acid in the vinegar worked loose the rust.  A little elbow grease and a steel wool pad later, and I had brand new looking cast iron...a whole set.  I oiled them up, baked them again to "season" them, and they look fantastic.  It's recommended I do the oil and bake thing a few more times before cooking with them.

I've been saying for 2 weeks now that I have to get my side of the bedroom cleaned up.  OMG, it's a catch-all area for us.  I just have NO motivation to get it started.  I'll get it done eventually.  I stopped in at the Cafe to pick up the cleaning rags we use that I put in bleach water last Sunday.  I wash all the towels we use at the restaurant rather than throwing them out.   I pulled all the lunchmeat and breads out of the freezer so all will be ready for the weekend.  I am not working this weekend for we are camping with the scouts, so I will be sure everything is set up for Mark to do the breakfast cooking in my absence.  He hates cooking but grudgingly does it for me, so I try to make sure he has everything he needs.  If left up to him, he would forego breakfast and not open until lunchtime but he owns the place and doesn't want to let our regular breakfast customers down.  Folks know when I am not there but Mark really does do the best he can.  We don't normally freeze stuff but since we are only open on Saturday and Sunday now, food will spoil throughout the week unless we freeze it.  Breads dry out when you freeze them but 99% of the time, it gets toasted anyways so no biggie.  We will cook our last food for the season the last weekend of this month, then close until May 2009.

I got to see the grandkids yesterday too.  Riley has been in a whiney mood for a couple of weeks....he's 2 so I think them icky molars are coming in, making him fussy.  Dakota at 6 months old is teething too, so she is a little feverish and fussy also.  Karissa is enjoying Kindergarten and loves riding the school bus.

***Our storage unit---it is full of stuff we have been storing for a friend of Ed's.  He has been told Umpteen times to come and get his stuff.  If he doesn't get it all out by September 30, we will have some stuff to sell....household stuff.  I will let you all know when and what will be available.  He owes us money anyways so maybe we can recover some of that cash.

Take care and have a great Thursday.
