Frustrated

Hello everyone! I am always on here reading posts but have never posted before. I am getting frustrated and need to vent.

My surgery is scheduled for August 7th. A week from today! I am not scared, I am so excited. This surgery means everything to me. I am 25 year old diabetic with a lot of complications because of it. I was told that I had all of my clearances in but I rec'd a call today saying that my credit card was declined, my endoscopy report didn't come in, and my A1C's were high.

Could anything else go wrong? I am getting a certified check because I think that I may have a limit or something on my card. I, unfortunatly, have to pay out of pocket for the surgery. But God has blessed me with a fantastic father to help me.

I am still waiting for Mary Ellen to call me back regarding my A1C's. I take insulin everyday and I still can't get it below 9. I am praying that I can still move forward.

I called about my endoscopy report and was told that it was on Dr. Caruso's desk. I had it done July 18th. What's the hold up? He did call me and told me that I have H-Pylori and put me on meds but Misty in Dr. Wynns office said it shouldn't cause any complications.

I am trying to overlook all this and think positive but it is getting harder and harder when so much stuff keeps coming up!

Please keep me in your prayers!

Thanks,
Kristi

Hi Kristi:

I have my 1st consult to start paperwork next week for the lapband surgery. I live in Millsboro and am using a doctor from Salisbury that also has  an office in Lewes.  I have been told there is alot of paperwork and everything seems to get backed up at the last minute but it all falls into place. I have heard very nice things about Dr. Wynn-I am sure they will help you to get it all together in time.

Hang in there and you find alot of encouragement on this forum.  I am just a newbie but everyone seems to be so nice.  Keep in touch and I will keep you in my prayers..

Debbie

Thank you so much Debbie!

I just got a call and my surgery has been cancelled! I have an infection h-pylori which a side effect is raised blood sugar. My A1C went from an 8 to an 11 in a matter of three weeks. So I got the devastating news it had to be cancelled. There is a chance I can have in another 6 weeks. I have to make sure the H-Pylori is gone and my levels are back down.

I knew something was wrong but man this came out of the blue!

I am trying to be strong about this. I know God has major plans for me and I need to let it be in His time.

Much Love,
Kristi

Hi Kristi,
I am supposed to get my sugery on Aug 26 with Dr Wynn. I also have sugar issues. My last A1C was 6.7 and it really freaked me out as it had never been that high. Do you know what level we are supposed to be at in order to get approved? Also are you a type 2 like me? I will keep you in prayer and things WILL get better.

Kristi, I know this has been something you have been wanting  for a long time and have had many set backs. All will work out for you just wait and see. Remember everything happens for a reason. Get the medical problem taken care of first. Be glad they found it and know you will be healthy when you have your surgery. You have come to the right place for support. Read and learn all you can. You will see you are not alone. Remember we have a support group at the church the first Wednesday of each month at 7pm.  You are blessed to have a wonderful father who stands behind you and supports your decision. You are on the prayer list so we are all praying for you. You can call Debbie or I anytime. Here are our numbers : Joanne 947-0417 and Debbie 947-9112. Please call anytime !!!  We are here for you and you are not alone in this struggle. May God Bless you and See you lighter. Joanne

Thank you all for your support!

My A1C's were low but because of the H-Pylori they raised to an 11. I was so surprised because I was told that this wouldn't effect anything. I was tested about 5 weeks ago for my A1C's for my diabetes check-up with my pcp and I was at an. And now they har shot back up. It has taken me almost a year to get them that low. Another things is that my sugar levels haven't been so bad.

So I will pend the next week continuing my medication and watching my sugar intake. Thow whole point of this surgery is to help me better control my diabetes. How ironic, right?

Again thank you all for the continued support. I will be sure to keep in touch!

I agree it's ironic. I know of another women that also went through this. Good luck getting it down it will work out for you stay encouraged. Stress is not good for us as its raises our sugar. I will keep you in prayer. I know how important this is esp for diabetics.

Hi Kristi!  I know you're discouraged, but H.pylori isn't anything to take too lightly.  It's a bacteria that causes ulcers (here's its definition:  a bacterial species that produces urease and causes gastritis and nearly all peptic ulcer disease of the stomach and duodenum.).  The last thing you need is an ulcer with this surgery!  The pain from peptic ulcers alone is almost unbearable, and you're intake will be diminished greatly right after surgery, so it's best to treat the infection first so that complications from an ulcer do not occur after surgery.   Hang in there though - your time will come and it will be the best thing you ever do for yourself!  Take care!!!!!
