SCARED
Hi,
I need some help here. I want to be rid of some health problems I am having but I am REALLY scared. I am scared that "what if" something were to go wrong with my surgery? What would my "babies" my little ones are 7 and 9 do? I am NOT as concerned about the ME as I am about all my loved ones siblings, children, grandchildren, hubby etc.
You see Dr Wynn has NEVER had a lapband patient die in surgery. Yes I DID ask her. Is this normal to be thinking this way? Where any of you scared?
I want everyone here that is a praying person to please keep me in prayer. I know fear is not of the Lord.

You are going through what everyone does before surgery. The "what if's" Its perfectly normal.
For me I tried to think positive. My kids are 9 and 12 and I all could think about was the activities I could do with them if I lost weight. I believe they enjoy me much more. I take them swimming almost daily. The heat no longer bothers me like it did 100 pounds ago and I no longer have asthma so i'm not wheezing as i'm walking.
Relax and enjoy the ride!!
You are gonna do great!!
Take care, we are here for you!

I think everyone feels that way to some extent. I even went as far as to write my children and husband letters to be read if something happened. But I have to say that on the day of surgery I had an inner peace that I have never felt before or since. I knew I was doing the right thing so I could spend more time with my family that I love so much. It is good that you are expressing your thoughts. You will find that they are normal in this group of people. Lots of good luck and keep asking questions. It was really helpful to me.

Scared ? Who wouldn't be !! You have risk of death with any surgery. I truely beleive our date of death is already marked in heaven and when it is our time God will take us. You are right fear is not of the lord. I can only say the day I had surgery there was no fear in my heart of dying. I felt like I was dying a slow death anyway and if it was my time I was ready. Prayers have went up for you. You are normal by all means ! See you lighter. Joanne
Hi,
I am just starting my journey into getting approved for lap band surgery and I like you am scared not only of the actual surgery but what about possible complications afterwards?? BUT I also know I can't keep on the way I am now. My joints hurt, I have trouble sleeping all night, I can't do the things I want to do with my grandson as I get out of breath and tire easily, etc. So, we have to know that WLS will make our life more enjoyable and give us the opportunity to do the things we want to do with our loved ones!
I am sure everyone was scared to a certain extent prior to their surgery. Put it in Gods hands and he will give you peace.

YES I UNDERSTAND i am going through the "what ifs" now with my surgery tomorrow, also thought about writing letters to my kids and wife, just in case, but i know that they know i love them and why i am doing this. My wife is scared and normally so, but she being the female is so much stronger than me with giving birth that this should be a walk in the park!! hopefully it is. just relax from what i hear about your doctor you have nothing to worry about. Just remember, it is about your health first!!!
Hi,
I wish you much success on this journey. I have heard EXCELLENT things re Dr Wynn that is why I picked her. I also eat the band way already go figure. I graze all day to keep my sugar stable like 6 times a day but all small meals. Example morning 6 oz nonfat sugar free yougurt. An hour to 2 hours later an Extend Bar and 6 to 8 oz milk.
I have had people ask me IF I already eat this way HOW is this going to work for ME. I have been researching alot re type 2 diabeties. There is newer research that says type 2 has something missing in the upper 12 in of the upper intestine. I think My op only as I am not a doc that maybe the surgery makes the food hit the intestine slower and maybe THAT has something to do with the reason so many type 2 get CURED from this disease.
