Judy, Thanks for the information. I got this really cool logbook from " Make it a Lifestyle" . I love it. You even check off vitamins, calcium and B12. I added my morning meds and evening meds too. It also has an area to log your struggles for the day and how you handled it and an area for positive changes. Debbie saw it today and she really liked it too. I am ordering her 1 tomorrow. Sounds like you have a good plan. I am watching carbs too. They are my enemy !!! See you lighter. Joanne

Well, I am doing crappy again today, Joanne . . . (well, you asked!). Still stress eating, so much b.s. to deal with right now between family squabbles, financial problems, etc. I am really steamed with my family right now, part of my new job entails doing a lot of paperwork from home. Constant interruptions from everyone here. I am ready to pull my hair out. I am trying to make a good impression with these folks so I am rehired next summer, and I am frustrated that I can't seem to get organized -- I have stuff strewn all over the dining room table ala Oscar Madison.

UGH.

I am making a healthy dinner at least, broiled chicken, green beans.

BJ. Boy do I understand stress eating. We have to make a plan.  if you can get away. Come over and we will watch the tape " HELP! MY EMOTIONAL EATING IS BACK ". I have no****ched it yet but Monica is a great inspirational speaker. If you feel like me you feel like you are being pulled in so many directions. Remember you can't change your family or anyone else. If you could I would surely do some changing with my biggest stresser. You can only change the way you react to them. I am working on this myself. We spend so much time worrying about others that we put ourselves on the back burner. BJ let me just say this " If you don't take care of yourself , no one else will" You are a very special person and deserve to be treated like one. Put your head up and be proud.  You have my permission to kick this back at me. Lord only knows I need a kick in the butt somedays. Today is the first day of the rest of our lives. Lets make the best of it. Yesterday is gone ! Do something nice for yourself. Remember I am only a phone call away. If you get stressed please call me. We will go for a cup of coffee or something or just talk on the phone. Who knows you might just be saving me.  See you lighter. Joanne

I had a great day today!  Woke up late and got my DD off to summer camp, then I came home, showered, changed, and went to a friend's to help her get ready for a big garage sale she's having on Saturday.  If anyone's in Greenville on Saturday, there's a great garage sale going on in Barley Mill Court!

My mom came along to help out with the garage sale, and then she & I went out to lunch at Pure Bread Deli.  Then I came home, picked up my DD and bought her a bicycle for her birthday (it was Sunday).  I bought one for myself too, because someone has to ride with her!

After dinner, we went to Bellevue State Park where I tried to teach my little crybaby how to ride her new bike (no training wheels!).  There was lots of running around, a little bit of falling, and lots of whining.  She'll get it eventually...

Tomorrow I'll get to ride my own bike over to the pool.  I can't wait!

Bronwen,  Good decision to buy you a bike too. My goal for my 1st anniversary after WLS was to ride a bike. I did it too. That has to inspire your DD to want to ride her bike. Before you know it she will be racing you to the pool. Good luck and please let us know how it is going. See you lighter. Joanne

Hi everyone.  My Monday was spent pretty much vegging out.  I had a doctor appointment at 8am to decide what to do about my Iron deficiency.  I am going to try a supplement with Vitamin C for one month, and have labs drawn again.  If the iron is still too low (and the doc suspects it will be), I will have infusions.  The labs that will be drawn one month from now will also include the comprehensive metabolic panel,  protein, B-12, and Vitamin D.  The doctor is certain I am deficient somewhere else too but the one month on supplements is required first.  I think my protein is probably OK since I eat plenty of meat but we will see.  All I know is I am tired all the time, don't have any stamina for anything more strenuous than basic required walking, my muscles get achy from time to time, and  know if I didn't have sleep problems, I'd be sleeping all the time!  I tried to take Alex for a haircut but nothing in Longneck is open on Mondays.  We will try again on Tuesday.  I un-cluttered the living room and ran the vacuum sweeper to clean up all the bird feathers.  With a parrot, a quaker, 2 canaries, and a parakeet--all going though summer moulting, there's a ton of feathers to be dealt with!  Not to mention they are a bunch of slobs and toss seed all over the place.  LOL.  I swear it's a zoo around here.  The rest of the day was just plain lazy.  I ate chicken twice and had some tuna and whole grain toast.  I drank one protein shake, and ate about 22 pounds of ice.

Kathy, You might want to have them check you for Bacteria overgrowth.  You are very tired with this. Crave carbs.  This bacteria feeds on carbs . It steals the calcium from your body. If you have copies of your labs and I hope you do. Check your vitamin D and Zinc levels. Notice if they are going down.  Your protein level will also be low. How low is your blood ? They told me I was about a quart low with my last blood test. I was put on Vitron C. What did he give you for iron? Hopefully it will work. How often will you have to get the infusions if you do. Take care and let us know what is going on and how you feel. See you lighter. Joanne

The labs for the Vitamin D and stuff aren't being done until next month, but my iron absorption was just 5...should be above 50 I think.  All the bloods related to iron levels were low.  I am taking the Vitron-C also, started it yesterday.  I have to take it for a month and then have the iron checked again.  I have ulcers and take the proton pump inhibitors and they totally block the absorption of iron, so chances are I won't absorb anything.  My doctor said absolutely DO NOT STOP taking the ulcer stuff because without it, I can have bleeding ulcer problems.  So since I am stuck like that, the infusions are probably going to be my only alternative.  We will see what happens with the Vitron-C though.

Kathy, Can they give you something different for the ulcers that will not block iron? My husband had bleeding ulcers years ago from pain  meds.  He had 1/2 of his stomach removed for they had ate thru to his pancreas.  He tried to be Dr before going to the Dr. You know that is a tuff male thing. Hope all works out for you. See you lighter. Joanne
