to all of you who were and still are concerned with what was going on with me...... first off, thanks from the bottom of my heart. its nice to know i hav such a big "family" well heres whats goin on. i finally saw a compentent dr (not dr kelly, the original dr) on tuesday 7/1/08. i met with gloria (shes the NP in dr rupps office) and not only did she listen to me and ask a TON of questions (she was truly concerned about what was going on) but she also informed me that the ER dr lied to me! h had told me i wasnt anemic and she showed me the labs from that night and i am in fact very anemic!! so she started me on fem con and has me doubling it up every day just to try to stop the bleeding. its a new BC that hs iron in it and is also chewable!! its mint flavored!  then she also has me on an additional iron supplement every day. then she scheduled me an apt with dr rupp, which i had on wed. 7/9/08. at that apt he also listened, asked questions and read glorias notes. he decided i need a hystorectomy. i have been on the BC for 2 weeks now and im still bleeding just as bad as ever, so because the meds arent doing anything, im so anemic and i just wont stop bleeding, i was told i will be having surgery asap. i am scheduled for a laproscopic hysterectomy on friday 7/18/08 (next friday!!) at nanticoke mem hosp. in seaford. they will be leaving in my cervix and ovaries unless theirs complications. he had originally told me i would go in for surgery at 1:45 and go home by 4 but i told him i in no way shape or form felt comphy with that. so he decided for my piece of mind i will be admitted and will stay at least overnight. ok so now in terrified of having ANOUTHER surgery just 3 1/2 months after the bypass, and im conflicted with the fact that ill never be able to have kids again. i know this is what i need to do and its the best desicision i could make for myself but im still scared. im also scared about weight gain. ive read alot that some women gain weight after hysterectomy. well, i guess thats it. ill update again after surgery.

Never criticize someone until you've walked a mile in their shoes; that way when you do criticize them, your a mile away and you have their shoes!

Not sure of your age, but I just had a hysterectomy last year when I turned 58. I did stay overnight.  Sometimes the insurance companies don't pick up alot if you leave the same day.  Mine was done vaginally. I kept my ovaries/cervix  also. I told the Dr that if it wasn't broken leave it alone.  I felt pretty good and was only out of work for 2 wks. I attribute the dropped uterus to my exercise regime that I was doing. I really pushed myself for 3 yrs post WLS. I have lightened my weights some. I still exercise and swim, just not as strenuous. You shouldn't have any problem loosing weight cause you are still in the honeymoon stage. Pretty much you will loose the 1st year without a lot of effort. The important thing is to get in the protein, lots of water and exercise. If you develope good habits now you will remain successful. You should worry about weight gain if you don't follow the rules.  Try to stay positive & focused. ((HUGS)) Elissa

Heather,First of all I agree with Elissa's post. I truely beleave things happen for a reason in life we just don't understand it at the time. When I was 27 and had my son the Dr. told me not to have anymore kids due to complications. It was very hard but when I look back at it now I truely understand why. You are blessed with 3 wonderful children. Count your blessings and make the most out of what God gave you. As for weight gain everyone is afraid of that. As Elissa said you are early out and the weight will come off with out effort the 1st year. You know you have to do monitoring the rest of your life anyway. As we all know this was no easy way out. Take it one day at a time. You are really stressing yourself. Please call if you need anything or just want to talk. See you lighter. Joanne
