Well I am having lap band on 2/12 and am not looking forward to the 2 day all liquid diet.  If I had any self control I don't think I would be needing this surgery, Does anyone have any suggestions.  I am looking forward to the surgery (kinda) a lot nervous, but I have been unemployed since December, really depressed and stuck in the house all alone  (if you don't count the 4 dogs).  I have been severly agitated lately and as some of you may know all of these feelings are soothed at times by eating.  I am scared that I might not be able to adhere to this diet.  I need some help!!

Hey Kristina,   First of all, congratulations on your way to a better life....Believe it or not, the 2 day liquid pre surgery was the worst part of this whole journey, which means once you get passed the 2 days it hopefully will be all up hill from there...I remember, my neighbor was having a huge cookout 2 days prior to the surgery, which I skipped.  The only thing I can recommend is to drink alot and eat alot of broth soup etc, to try to keep you filled....and look at the otherside of the tunnel....Best of luck and see you on the lighter side of things,...Dave   Also when you get depressed keep on reading the OH Delaware and Lap Band boards to keep things positive...there are alot of successful and inspiring stories to read...

I was DREADING clear liquids, but I didn't find it to be nearly as bad as I thought it would be. Broth was probably the biggest help - because it is best hot.  For some reason that made it much more satisfying. Popsicles and jello also gave the feeling of actually eating something.   It's only 2 days.  You'll make it! Good luck on your surgery!  Congratulations.

... to go until DH is taking me on a vacation that I couldn't do before!  (Horses, camels...  Who knows!)

You have taken the biggest steps just going to all the appointments and tests to get where you are today.  As others have suggested the hot broth was a big helper.  I kept a cup with me the whole time and sipped whenever I got anxious.  A lot of it is mind hunger and you can conquer it.  Just think positive.  Do you have anyone who can take you for a ride, a walk at the mall or just play a game of cards with you just to pass the time?  If not...this would be a good time to read and watch some old movies you have been meaning to watch.  Just keep your mind busy and the time will pass.  Remember it is only two days and you will be grateful for this journey the rest of your life.  Good luck and keep posting on here and getting help from others.  We have all been there and we are the ones *****ally know how you feel. Keep us posted on your progress. Ellen

Kristina, The best advice I can offer is for you to get out of the house as much as possible. Support groups are great and there are many in New Castle County. If you feel the need to eat find something else to do for 10 minutes. Take a walk, call a friend, take a bath or anything to just relax. Do something nice for yourself. Remember this is all about you. If you are like most of us, you always give to others but it is hard to give to yourself. Broth or anything hot sooths. Best of luck to you. Remember you are not alone in this struggle.See you lighter. Joanne

It's not so bad.  Chicken Broth was what got me thru it. Remember: Liquid in = Liquid out!
