How To Look Good Naked - The TV Show

I watched the new Lifetime show "How To Look Good Naked". I found it very interesting to see when placed in front of a line of peers lined up from smallest to largest....when this woman chose her place in line she was so far off.  So I watched the next show, just to see what the next woman would do. She did exactly the same. Both woman placing themselves about 4 or so sizes larger than they really were.  I am told by some that I am skinny. Skinny? Me? (fat chance). Told I am too skinny. Yet, I don't feel skinny. In fact I still refer to my fat @$$ when talking about squeezing through somewhere. I wonder how liberating it would be to have a line of women in front of me, smallest to largest. To see where I would put myself, then see where I really belong. I think I really need a visual :) What about ya'll? Gigee

Wow, must just be those girls on TV and me that have this problem lol... It's ok, for those of you who don't know me, I can carry on some fabulous conversations all by myself *grin* Just so you know, anything I write, feel free to jump in and say something. It makes it fun and we have seen some great research come out of sideline conversations. Gigee

I know you and that is what I love about you...all the side conversations that make us think.  I can identify with you and those people on that show (even though I didn't see it)  I put on 5 pounds over the holidays and every time I looked in the mirror I was sure I was as fat as I was before the surgery and that everyone else could see it too.  Our minds do crazy things.  I have taken the weight back off but I still think I look bad.  Why do we do this to ourselves?  Anybody want to venture a guess. I think for me, it is so many years of failed "diets" . It is why I refused to set a goal weight. I still haven't either. What if it didn't happen? Would I feel like I failed all over again? And now? Maybe part of me expects to any day wake up to only being able to wear my old clothes again. LOL I know how silly that sounds, but in years past when I would diet. I would lose some weight then next thing you know.. I was back at the weight I start and then some... *cough*

I love your post.  Fear of failure is certainly a problem for many of us (I include myself in that illustrious group).  Luckily I don't have a single piece of my old clothes, but I still have this picture in mind of having to wear that bright orange shirt because that is the only shirt available in my size.  Or wearing a sweatsuit in the winter, because I couldn't find a winter coat that would fit.  The one size fits all bathrobe that didn't fit.  Ugggh.  Brings up some really bad memories.   I also have a much greater appreciation for all of those people at the gym on the treadmill trying to either lose those last dreaded 3 pounds, or just trying to maintain. I have actually put the fear into hybernation for awhile (hopefully forever), and enjoy being where I'm at, the things I can do now,  and  the things I have planned. Good to see you posting again. Rob BTW, maybe I can get Dwight to start posting again someday.

As time goes by it gets easier for me. I hope to be to your point soon. No fear, but not forgetting. The only piece of old clothing I have kept is the pair of pants I wore home from the hospital. To this day I have never put them on again. I might one day out of curiosity, but I don't think so. I would love to hear from pretzel again! Is he still biking?

Haven't seen the show but perhaps I am in denial of how I look naked.  LOL.  I don't like the wrinkles but they are a part of me so I deal with them.  If I ever get brave and go for plastics I better learn to like me huh.  I would always pick the middle of the road even when I was the heaviest.  I never wanted to believe I was that big before. I thought I had a good idea of how big I was before the surgery, but now? When I look back at the pictures.... I think I had no clue :) Something isn't it? If the world only saw us like we see ourselves, cause you know D'ster and G'ster, the DIVAs!!! *grin* Gigee

Hey babydoll where ya been at???? I look at myself nekked all the time.  I'm like eh, at least I"m not a size 22-24 anymore.  I've gained a little so now most of my 12s are snug.  My 14s are still fine. I've still got your # and one of these days I'm gonna call you for that Ali Babas date!  We always seem to decide to go out anywhere at the very last minute.  Can you do a 30 minute notice?

I have been here and there, not really anywhere. I recently changed from one bedroom to another in my apartment and the arrangement of the room (smaller room) means I can't get dressed without seeing myself in the mirror.... egad!!! LOL where did all that skin come from? God Bless clothes lol.  Please do call, I stil have yours as well. If you are going somewhere in Newark then hey, I can do a 30 minute notice!! Gigee
