I'm All Done!

Hey everyone, My TT and breast reduction was done on Wednesday and the difference is incredible.  Even with all the swelling, things are really looking good.  I am pretty sore in the abdominal area but the breast area is pretty much painless right now.  My daughters are as giddy as I am over the change.  They have been a really big help so far with changing bandages, emptying the JP drains, and generally taking care of me.  Dr. Danyo didn't actually weigh the tissue he removed but according to the scales, he took off about 8-10 pounds of loose skin and breast tissue.  That number doesn't reflect the weight of the binder and the fluids and drain tubes, so when all is said and done, I estimate about 12 pounds has disappeared.  I feel pretty good, but the pain meds are talking right now too. Thank you all for adding me to your prayer chains and thinking good thoughts for me.  I will try to post some photos once I heal a little more.

Kathy,

I'm so glad everything went so well and you love the results.  I am having some surgery with Dr. Danyo on 1/11 and was wondering what you thought of him.   My consult went by so fast and I was so embarrassed to be standing there I couldn't get a read on him.   What is your opinion, if you don't mind me asking.

Continue to take care of yourself and speedy healing.

Dee

Dr. Danyo was very nice..to the point but nice.  I like him.  He even called me at home last night to see how I was doing.  I have a follow-up appointment with him on Tuesday and most likely will have the JP drains removed then.  They are the most uncomfortable things in the world, I think.  Thank you for the well wishes and good luck with your own TT in January! Kathy,

I don't know if you've ever been on the plastic surgery site here at OH but they might be able to give you some good advice while your healing.  I've been a lurker there for months and have learned a lot.

Take care and please keep us updated.

I went to the plastics forum and breezed through for a little while a couple of months ago.  I was just kind of looking for general info. Today I took off my binder for a while.  It makes me itch so bad, I just wanted some relief.  I'll put it back on later today.   Benadryl helps with the itching as well. The incisions all look real good and swelling is minimal right now.  The drains are getting clearer and there's alot less fluids comiong out as the days go by.  The only pain I can say I have is right where the tubes come out of my skin.  If that's all the discomfort I have at this point then I'd say I'm doing pretty darn good.  i even got up and fixed biscuits and gravy this morning.  It was good. I think I will take it easy for while noe.  I have a load of laundry in but Ed will fini**** for me.  Thanks for all your support.  Take care. KathyG

Hey Kathy,

I thought I was the only one that still makes biscuits and gravy on Sunday morning!  I grew up in an Italian family in Cleveland   but my husband in from Tennessee, so it is buscuits and gravy on Sunday.

I'm so glad you aren't having any problems.  How is Dr.Danyo with pain meds.  I will be having some lipo done as well as a bl/ba and arm lift.  From what I understand , it is the lipo that will cause most of the pain.

Don't do too much too soon.  Enjoy resting while you have the chance.  Take care.

Yes, the biscuits and gravy on Sunday mornings is a tradition in our family.  My Gramma was from Kentucky and made it EVERY Sunday, but I might make it 3 or 4 times a year.  We all just love it, even Ed who is from Scrapple country.  Once he tried my biscuits and gravy, he was hooked. I think I might have done too much todat.  I feel alot of stretching and pullinh, and the fluid in one of my drains is brighter red than it was earlier.  So now I am just sort of sitting around.

Dr. Danyo is real good with the pain control.  I am under contract with a pain management clinic so I can't get any Rx's from any other doctor.  I had a pump in there that gave me a constant flow of SensorCaine, which reduced the need for narcotics.  I took it out yesterday.   I've been taking my Oxycodone and Benadryl and I have good pain control with that regimen.  I go on Tuesday to get the drains out, Thank God.  They irritate me more than anything else.  So far, I am very pleased with Dr. Danyo's office and my aftercare.  He is really sweet and the girls on the office are nice.   I hope you have a good experience too. Kathy, My husband thinks he should have biscuits and gravy 2-3 times a week, I finally got him down to just Sundays.

Just one more question, he has me spending the night, did you have to stay also? Please take it easy and don't hurt yourself.  Everything will be waiting for you when your better.  Now, I want you to remind me of that advice when its my turn! Dee

Yes, I had to spend one night.  Just to make sure everything was draining and they could give me IV antibiotics.  The staff at Wilmington Hospital were very nice so my stay was not unpleasant in the least.  Believe me, you need that one overnight to get the anethesia out of you.  You might want to tell them you will need extra protein and more fluids than the average patient.  I think I ate about 1/2 pound of turkey breast in that 1 day, and it was actually pretty good.  They took away my pancakes (I hate pancakes anyways)and brought me a yogurt, and made a coffee for me any time I wanted it.  Being a smoker, I was in and out alot and they tolerated me pretty well. I took a sink bath today.  If felt good to get washed up.  The antiseptic they used was red and I thought it was blood so here I've been scrubbing for a week trying to get it all off.  It's not the orange iodine color but looks more like dried blood.  I have tons of gooey tape adhesive stuck on me so I've been picking at that trying to get it off.  The swelling is better today and it didn't hurt to wash off.  Some areas of skin are really sensitive and sting, even though there's nothing there. I told myself today I was taking it easy so all I did was sweep the kitchen floor and ride to the mailbox on my golf cart. Take care and good luck next week.  You will love the new you! KathyG
