Questions
Hi everyone!!! I've been sitting here pondering things and have a couple questions I know you all can help me with. First, how do you know if your stoma has stretched, and what can be done about it without surgery to tighten it?
Second, are we WLSers permitted to eat nuts? I've been eating peanuts almost everyday for months now, and was recently told by a friend that nuts were not good for us. What's the story on that? Even though I'm 2 years out - I still have uncertainty about some of my food choices and don't want to jeopardize any of my progress so far. I'm also having problems again with head hunger vs. actual hunger - any tips or pointers would be greatly appreciated!!!!! Take care & thanks for your continued support!!!!!
Hi Cathy, As we speak, I have a dear friend that has gone to a surgeon in Florida to have a revision. $$$ In my limited knowledge of the procedure, the Dr. somehow pleats the stoma to make it smaller. A 30 minute in the office procedure, non-invasive. I'll let you know How, Who and Where & how much as soon as I get more info. Noone in Delaware will do this procedure. Good results, excellant credentials.
Nuts are a good source of protein. Almonds are the best source. However, they carry a lot of fat so watch your intake and calories.
Drink plenty of liquids for the head hunger. Lots of exercise and above all, keep busy. Good luck. I'm sure you have done great. Try to make it to a meeting in September. Love to get new ideas and share. Margaret Keenan has a good class on Sept 11th. Partners in change. No charge to CHRIAS patients. She is awesome. For post-ops out over a year. Need to call PMRI to get a spot in the seminar. Once a month and very worthwhile. Especially the emotional issues. ((HUGS)) Elissa
