Revision Surgery

Hello - new to the DE forum here.  Has anyone had a revision surgery performed by any of the WL surgeons at Christiana Hosp?  I am 4 yrs post op from open RNY and am hungry all the time.  I suspect the stoma has stretched and or staple line has been compromised.  I got pregnant too soon after surgery (11 months, had lost 100lbs. ) and have not been able to lose weight since getting to my pre-pregnancy weight.  Never reached goal weight.  Need to lose at least 60 more lbs. to get to goal weight.  I feel like I am right back where I started pre-op.  Hungy and failing at my dieting attempts.  My original surgery was done in Phila.  But would like to see one of the surgeons at Christiana Hosp.  I know I need to get a GI study performed to determine what is going on.   Any Delaware revision patients out there?

Hi!  I asked Dr. Irgau at CHRIAS about a revision for myself, and he's the one who did my original surgery.  He told me unequivocally that he wouldn't do it.  So....I think you would have to see the surgeon yourself and explain why you need a revision.  If they deem it necessary they might to it, but he told me just because I haven't lost what I wanted was not a consideration for a revision.  Good luck in your search.  If you find one who will do it, let me know.  Take care!!!!

Hi there! Is there any reason you only want the surgeons at Christiana?  Understand that I mean absolutely no disrespect here, but honestly want to know why you'd limit your options that way.  Is it insurance-related?  I can understand that, if so. I invite you to come to the Duodenal Switch forum and talk to some of the people there who have been revised from RNY to DS.  It's another option that you may want to consider before committing to a RNY revision.  There are some great surgeons experienced in RNY to DS revisions in the NYC area if you're willing to travel. Good luck with whatever you decide.  Feel free to PM me if you'd like any other information.
