To date, we have nearly 200 OH’ers registered for this cruise!  WOW!  You’ll see lots of familiar faces, and some new ones too!  We currently have bariatric surgeons, a plastic surgeon, a bariatric coordinator, a nutritionist, and a fitness instructor joining in for next year’s activities.  BUT…..this is also your cruise VACATION, and a chance to meet, mingle and CELEBRATE with your fellow WLS’ers!!

ALL are welcome – pre-op’s, post-op’s, of ALL TYPES of WLS, family members and friends, so fill out your pre-registration form today!

Watch the board for more information and updates coming SOON!!

Check out my profile for pictures of MARINER OF THE SEAS from a cruise I did with my family in 12/04, and from just two weeks ago when I did an inspection tour for this year's CRUISE TO LOSE!  Make sure you check out the pictures of the Royal Promenade, ROCK CLIMBING WALL(!!!!), 18-Hole Mini Golf Course, ICE SKATING RINK (again, !!!!!!) among other points of interest!  The Royal Promenade has café’s and bistro’s, and Promenade Cabins overlooking the “main street” – these areas are actually “Inside cabins” retrofitted with a picture window overlooking the promenade!  NO OTHER CRUISE LINE offers such a great, inexpensive alternative to what would otherwise be an “Inside”!!  Each day there are various activities here, including parades, parties (70’s and 80’s parties, Mardi Gras, etc.), and while at sea, the shops along the mall are open for business!

Go to www.rubycruises.com to PRE-REGISTER – upper right hand corner.  If you have any questions, you may PM me here, email me at [email protected], or call me TOLL FREE at 866-685-RUBY (7829).

Don’t miss the boat!  C’mon and join in the FUN!!!  Talk to you SOON, and see you ONBOARD!  Remember to watch here for UPDATES!   ~ Terri

Hi Joanne! To give you an idea, for THIS year's Ruby Cruises Cruise to Lose, we have a group of 60 total, about 40 of whom are from the O.H. boards!  We are gonig THIS September 30 to the Eastern Caribbean on Mariner of the Seas (the same ship we chose for the 2008 event).  We have a team of three surgeons, a bariatric coordinator, a nurse practitioner and a nutritionist who will be conducting support group meetings and information sessions throughout the week long cruise.  The 2008 Cruise to Lose will be very similar, and in fact we have added a plasatic surgeon and a fitness instructor to our team.  Also, EVERYONE is welcome - those who have had WLS, those considering it, spouses, family, friends, etc.  Oh...and the sessions are very brief, because above all, we want everyone to have FUN!  It's a cruise vacation!  If you check my profile out, you can get an idea as to what my personal experience has been and why I put these cruises together.  Check it out!  My story is in my current blog.  When I first formed this group earlier this year, it was built around my local support group.  Someone mentioned to me that since I also belonged to O.H. to put the word out here.  I did, and the response was overwhelming!  I had to wrangle extra cabins from Royal Caribbean just to cover what we had, because we ended up selling out of the cabins I had originally pulled.  It took me by surprise, and the response to this year's announcememt promises to nearly triple the size.   If you have never been on a cruise, I can tell you personally that it is a great vacation option.  You can do "everything" or you can do "nothing", or a mix of the two.  You are pampered and treated like royalty, and there is always something going on for everyone.  The ships I choose for my groups are resort style - full service spas and salon, lots of activity including a rock climbing wall and full 18-hole mini golf course, Vegas style shows, several night clubs and activities for everyone of all ages.  The best part is that most everything is included in your cruise fare - the cruise itself (resort style rooms), all meals, most beverages, entertainment and so much to do!  Cruising is comparable to staying at a 5 star resort for about half the cost. My profile also contains pictures from a cruise I did with my family on Mariner of the Seas as well as from two weeks ago when I did an inspection tour in preparation for this year's Cruise to Lose.  If you haven't already seen it, have a look! I hope you decide to join us!  Please feel free to email me [email protected], or call me toll free 866-685-7829 with any questions!   ~ Terri

Terri, My decision is already made. We talked with my neighbor today about this. They want to join my husband and I on the cruise. So that will be 4 of us.  Question. My husband walks with a walker. Does he need any special accomidations ? Should he bring his wheel chair ? Have you had any handicap people on board?  He gets around very well .  This really gives me something to motivate myself. And Lord only knows we need a real vacation.  See you lighter. Joanne

JoAnne, Fantastic!!  Glad you'll be joining us!!  Walkers and Wheelchairs are no problem.  When you make your reservation, I notify Royal Caribbean of whatever your needs are, and they will absolutely accommodate you!  Yes, we currently have passengers on THIS year's Cruise to Lose who use chairs and walk with limitations.  I have a WONDERFUL National Account Rep at Royal Caribbean with whom I deal regularly regarding issues like this.  It's no problem whatsoever - we cover everything from parking, to the muster on the first day, to your daily activities, and at the end, disembarkation.  No worries!  Give me a call when you're ready, and we'll get you set up!! Talk to you later AND lighter! LOL   ~ Terri
