Challenge for 2 year plus RNYers!
All right. 5 months till the new year, and if you need to lose some pounds, why not try for five! If your set you can ignore this, but I bet there is some challenge you can set for the next 5 months. The reason that this challenge is out there for posties over two years is that this may actually challenge you unlike the first 18 months where you lose no matter what you do.
Time to set your energy toward losing 5 pounds by Jan 1st. That's 1 pound a month. Plenty of options on how you can do it. Increasing your exercise. Cardio and weight lifiting. Decreasing your calories (only after reviewing your diet with a nutritionist). Is it time to look at your diet? Your life? Your excuses? Remember that November and December is the downfall for many so you may need to stock up so you can coast in at the end.
Small challenge for some, More difficult for some depending on how close you are to normal BMI.
See you at the finish line for this challenge, although I do plan on checking in once a month to see if anyone is still on board.
Constantly on the move,
Rob
Ya know Rob, this is why I have always adored you buddy!!! No crying in your "beer" or perhaps a better slogan for us posties would be crying in our protein shakes!!! LOL
I will see your challenge and raise you 15 virgin pounds!!!
You could not have caught me at a better time. I have had some physical stuff going on that has completely thrown me out of the exercise ring. With the pain, I sulked a bit, but ate as I "normally" did (as a postie - not like I used to) without the benefit of exercise. Somehow I forgot that calories in vs calories burned theory - What can I say, blond moment? Anyway, this left me with a 7 pound gain that I struggled with - up and down, up and down, up and well, you all know that pre-op show.
On July 27, 2007 I decided, enough is enough, and I pulled my sorry head out of that sulking glass and I took my life/health back into my hands. And have went back to complete basics and beyond and as of this morning, I have lost all that I had gained and then some. I am back and now losing virgin pounds!!! WHOOP WHOOP
Come on everyone --- grab a hand up and lets get-er-done!!! We can do this together!!!. IF this 4yr postie can do it, trust me, anyone can do it!!! So whether you are dealing with a 50 lb gain or need to buckle down and get those last five pounds off ... I KNOW you can. I KNOW we can - IF we put our minds to it.
Thanks Rob for this wonderful much needed and timely butt kicking post!!!
Well hello there Cutie!!! Have ya been to the diner lately??? Sorry, I couldn't resist!!!
Hmmmm ... what have I been doing? I will gladly share! Actually it really is pretty basic and restrictive but it is working for me to get the scale moving once again. Not sure how it will work for anyone else.
In a nut shell ... I have been eating low carb, low fat , low calorie, and no sugar or simple carbs, no sugar alcohols. I count all carbs, not just net carbs and am steering clear from all the low carb craze being sold, with the exception of low carb ketsup. I make most everything at home from scratch so I know what is in it. And what I don't make, I run through a hidden carb calculator http://www.e-clipse.com/hidcarbcal.htm
Here is a list of what I ate yesterday
Egg beater omelet with canadian bacon (pam spray)
Chicken Breast - ground and made into meatballs with marinara sauce x's 2
Orange Protein Jello - x's 2
Plenty of fluids, especially water, and all my vitamins!!!
Not another single bite of anything!
REcipe for the Orange Protein Jello
1 box jello choice of flavors
1 cup of boiling water
Mix and dissolve
Add 1 cup of crystal light (I used sunrise) or defizzed soda if allowed - choice of flavors
optional - an little bit of DaVinci SF syrup - I used french vanilla
2 scoops of protein powder - I used vanilla
Pour into individual cups and refrigerate.
Like I said, it is restrictive and I am not sure the right thing for everyone, especially if you are exercising, but for where I am right now, it is working quite well and I am THRILLED to see the scale moving in the right direction. As I move back into maintainence, I will be adding back in my beloved veggies.
I am so glad to see so many old timers coming together to once again pull each other along!!! I only hope that all the others will show up!!!
If anyone has any questions about what I am eating and etc. please feel free to contact me. I will do what I can to share what is working for me.
OK you caught me! Last year I hit 175 for about a minute then went on vacation and was back up over 180. I have been bouncing between 178-185 for the past year and it's driving me nutz! I quit going to Curves last summer due to really needing to concentrate on finishing up those last 7 classes. Which after almost 7 years was taking every bit of energy I had. Well I finished June 19 so now NO MORE EXCUSES. I want to get down to my Goal of 160 and STAY THERE and you guys are gonna help get me started. I want to lose 10 by Christmas.
Hiya Rob,
Count me in for 10 along with Elissa. I have been exercising again every day but the eating has been lazy, lazy and I'm still fighting the stupid 5-10 pound thing. UGH. I have to go back to work in a few weeks and definitely need all the energy I can get to deal with the little darlin's!
Glad to see you post!
Linda
Put me down for 5 too. I am leaving on a cruise on Friday and hopefully I won't come back and have to up my goal to 10 ( or more ). I have always done ok on my cruises and I hope I can say the same this time. My exercising has been decreased because of shoulder surgery that went bad, but I can still walk and use the steps instead of the elevator. Just need to stay away from all the temptations that are around me daily. Thanks for starting this challange. We all can use a push once in a while. I miss seeing you on this board. Ellen
This was the week I got back to exercise....I have actually been to the gym three times! I need to scale back on all kinds of foods. I use stress as an excuse. I need to move the excuse along! Challenge...Put me up for 5....I want to challenge myself to get back to exercise routine no matter how small it is but do something! School is out for the next few weeks so here I go to the scale! It use to be my friend now I walk past it and don't even look at it again! I am so pitiful!
Keep on Movin!
Debbie

I will weigh in on Tuesday and hope to lose the 1st 5 lbs. gone. Yes we can all do this one day at a time and with each others support. See you lighter. Joanne
