What's the rule for chewing gum for post ops.  I chew gum regularly (I'm 2 years out) - it helps me fight off the head hunger, but am I causing harm that I don't see now but may surface down the road???  Thanks!!!  :)

If memory serves (don't hold your breath on that one) ... the rule was no gum after surgery I seem to recall the reason being fear of swallowing and causing a blockage. I am having a moment of total relapse here but am wondering IF chewing gum might cause some kind of stomach secretions also that could cause a problem???

You hit the nail right on the head, bikini bound.  Chewing stimulates acid production in the stomach, and since we post-ops have the increased risk of ulcer, that extra acid can and does cause problems.
