Pregnancy and Lap Band

Has anyone had a pregnancy AFTER the Lap Band procedure? My hubby and I were considering trying this year but if I go through with this procedure I hear you should wait at least a year before getting pregnant. Talked to my GYN about it and I love her but she didn't seem super knowledgable about the procedure. I want to know if there are any added risks to being pregnany and having this inside of you.

I've heard that it is recommended you wait 12-18 months before attempting pregnancy after any WLS.  That gives you and your body time to adjust to the new eating habits and get into a healthy routine (vitamins, exercise, healthy eating).  If you want a baby now, wait till after you give birth before having WLS (IMHO).  I know alot of bandsters who've gotten preggers with the band (increased fertility seems to be a side effect of weight loss) and most needed to be unfilled at some point in the pregnancy but there were some who didn't.  It all depends on the person.  Everyone is different.  There is also the increased risk of getting a slipped band (which can usually be corrected by unfilling and diet changes) if you are one of those who vomits alot during pregnancy.  All of the bandsters that I know who have given birth (even the RNYers) have perfectly healthy babies.  The baby will take what it needs from the momma.
