Are fills something you are gonna have to do for the rest of your life as long as you are banded? It may sound like a dumb question but Ive looked for that answer and can't seem to find one.

Some people get the band and loose weight with just 1 fill...I have had 4 or 5 so far and I think I am at a nice, comfortable fill...I do not think I will need any more, but the option is always there in the future, if I start to gain any weight back...It is whatever comfortable restriction that you have...So the answer is "no, you do not need to get fills for the rest of your life, but the option is there...Good luck

Fills are your best friends in the lap band weight loss game.  You will slowly fill up your band by increments until you reach a level of restriction that:  (1.) you can live with and (2.) you continue to lose weight.  Even when you are losing well, you might sometimes need an adjustment as the layer of fat surrounding your stomach starts melting off & your band loosens.  You'll know you need a fill when you find you are able to eat more than 1/2 cup of food at a sitting and your weight loss stops. I hope this helps! Love & peace, Fran

Research, research and more research the Pros and Cons and Risks of each surgery before you and your Surgeon make a choice. The road to a Healthier Journey sometimes is not the ''road'' we choose as along the journey the path changes..............

You are right Sharon...research the pros and cons.  Be sure you - yourself understand what they are and can really say what you are choosing is the best you can choose.  So many times people make uninformed decisions because they think X about a surgery style when some of that information is incorrect assumptions.  BE AN EDUCATED CONSUMER!   There are lots of books out there on all the surgeries available, the web is full of stuff that is free too!   My decision was good for me.  I know I am the only one that has to live with it as well.  Thanks Sharon for brining up this point...newbies please consider this to be vary valuable advise!
