Scheduled for seminar @ Christiana Hosp in July
I was happy with the reviews on both the hospital and the surgeons that I read on this site, so thank you for that.
From what I've read here, this is a long preparation to undergo WLS, 6 months of doctor-prescribed diet first? or would that be for RNY? I am interested in the Lap Band specifically. 7/25 will not get here quick enough, though I never wish my God-given days away... but could any of you give me some insight as to what I have to look forward to as I begin this journey ?
I'd just assume take it one step at a time and focus from the seminar to the surgery at this point. That is enough to digest, nevermind living with the band and adjustments and what i've read about "sliming" and PB's *yikes* I figured out what PB stands for, but as for the sliming... I will put that to the side for now LOL
So with Lap Band, what have I to look forward to between the seminar and date of procedure?
Thanks.
Lisa
Hi,
I don't think it's BC/BS. Exclusions for WLS are made by your employer when they contract with the insurance company. My primary insurance through my employer exclused any WLS. My coverage through my husband - BC/BS De - paid for everything. And they didn't require any six month diet either.
And sometimes insurance will play word games. WLS may not be covered but surgery for morbid obesity will. You need to get a copy of your policy and read it yourself. Your BC/BS may also have a website with the information. Don't rely on some customer service rep. Different reps may give you different answers.
Don't give up yet.
