Folks, I'm frustrated I'm almost a month post-op June 3rd.  I'm doing all the right things, vitamins, proteins, liquids, pureed food.  I spoke with Dr. Peters last week he said my body is arguing with me, I also spoke with Deanna whom I met at a support meeting, everyone is saying my body is mad because I'm losing all the weight, its at a stand still and not letting me loose anymore.  He Dr. Peters said I will win give it a week or two more and the weight will come off.  What am I doing wrong, I walk close to 2 miles daily, I feel good about myself, I'm starting to notice a remarkle change in myself.  Can anyone give me any help or pointers or am I just wanting to much to soon.  Thanks for all your help.        John

Congrads to you John for taking this journey to a Healthier you. Make sure you keep your protein levels high as I am sure that you are aware of. Also, can you change your exercise routine some what to see if this will help? Even adding alittle weight lifting (no you dont have to go to the gym use what you have around the house for weights), leg lifts can help also. Hang in there you will notice inches lost which for me is great even tho I love to see the scale move too. Take care.........Sharon

Hey, John! Step away from the scales! They are not always kind & do not always tell the entire story.  You mentioned that you felt good & that changes were happening.  Life is better than it was a month ago so develop an "attitude of gratitude" and remember that the weight didn't come on in a month so it won't reverse itself that quickly, either. It will happen.  Keep doing all the good things for yourself and believe what your support group members are telling you.  We all have a similar story!  Honest! Take care & keep in touch. Love & peace, Fran

John, Again..Step away from the scales! The first four to six weeks are for healing. The weight will come off but in fits and starts. Try to weigh in only once a week. I know it's hard. You have to keep in mind that the body is also seeing the much reduced calorie intake as starvation and will try to hold onto the weight.  I usually just up my calories for a day or two and that seems to bust plateaus for me. Plus if you are exercising you are building muscle. And we all know muscle weighs more that fat. So look at how your clothes are fitting. Hang in there.

Hi John,    I have to say I agree with the others....step away from the scale, hide it if you can!!  You are doing the right things then the weight will come off.  Your body and mind and soul has been through a serious surgery for one.  It needs time to heal and make adjustments.  Just remember this isn't overnight, it takes time and patience...good luck and you are doing great!

Chill Dude!  You're only 1 month out!  You're still healing.  Your body is in shock and probably still slightly under the influence of the anesthesia.  Now, step slowly back from the scales...... That's it, not turn around..........  good, now walk away.  For at least a week! You are doing nothing wrong.  Your body just needs some time to play catch-up.  I don't know if it happens with men but with women, because hormones are stored in fat tissue, we get awful surges in our emotions as we burn the fat and the hormones are released into our system. Right now you should be introducing a little more mushie food into your diet and seeing what you tolerate.  Keep walking.  Are you cleared for regular exercise yet?  I think I got cleared at about 6 weeks or so.  Keep taking your vitamins and your protein.
