Getting screwed by them AGAIN!  I had them at my old job.  When we switched to them it took WEEKS for them to get us our ID cards.  Well, I just had to switch to them last month.  I STILL HAVEN"T GOTTEN MY ID CARDS YET!!!!!!!!!!!  Yes the change went into effect on APRIL 20th.  Yes you heard it APRIL-FRIGGING-20th.  I've been putting off my daughter's check-up and prescription renewal for the past week hoping that the cards would finally show up.  She's ADHD and takes Concerta every day.  Well I couldn't wait any longer, I had to take her in for a new prescription last night because we were completely out of her medication.  The Dr was sweet and is holding off on submitting my claim until I can get the group #'s etc but I HAD to get the prescription filled last night. $271.  I nearly **** my pants!  But I had to pay it even though it means overdrawing my account  (Hubby got laid off for a month and his employer tried to say he terminated himself for another position which delayed his unemployment for several weeks, but he has started a new job at double his previous salary but hasn't been paid yet so we're short until friday).  The pharmacy couldn't just give me a few pills to tide me over until I get this screw up with BCBS fixed because it's a controlled substance and I would have to get an entirely new prescription written. So I had HR call BCBS AGAIN (they were supposed to call me back yesterday and never did) this morning and they say that they don't have my paperwork.  Aaaaaaaggggggghhhhh!  They faxed the paperwork in on MAy 5th.  I have the send successful fax receipt.  So we faxed it again and put hand deliver to... on it. If I don't get a phone call before the close of business today I WILL drive my A$$ over there and input my info into their system myself!  Yaknnow, they received our monthly ADD/DELETE report on the 7th, my name was on it in the add column.  If they didn't have my paperwork then, you think someone would pick up the phone or email our HR department and inquire about it.

Inept P'sOS!!!!!

That is terrible, we recently switched from BCBS of DE to a national BCBS plan.  Our paperwork was done on 4/24 and 5/2 I had my new cards in hand.  Doesn't say alot for BCBS of de...but our plan is pretty proficient.

OK They just called me with the plan numbers that I needed.  I'm climbing down off the clock tower and un****ing my rifle now.  BUT my account is overdrawn which will cost me $32!  Grrrr. At least now I won't get a bill from the Dr and Wallgreens will reimburse me.

I find that they are either really good or really bad. No in between. Once you have your numbers you can log on to their web-site and manage everything from there. So much easier. They actually answer e-mail! Sorry you had such a horrible experience. You think they'd be sensitive to the fact that people just can't go months without coverage.

I have BC/BS through my husband's Maryland employer.  He enrolled into the best service they had available PPO or some stuff, and they are saying that treatment of Morbid Obesity is under exclusions on the policy. ?   A week ago some buffoon at BCBS answered my call inquiring if they cover it, and they said YES.  Now they dont. I have no ammo either to go after them.  Its apparently clearly in the exclusions, I have no high BP, no diabetes, no nothing.  Just an extra 140+ lbs on me.  No big deal right?  To add insult to injury, after they just advised me they do NOT cover the surgery, I had to go pick up my kids from school and two sets of moms did double-takes of me when I came walking in/ out of the school. I guess if looking at me makes them feel better about themselves, then good for them.  Terrific.  Glad I can help.

When I had my surgery 2 years ago I had BCBSDE PPO.  They covered WLS (RNY not Band).  I believe that exclusions are determined by the employer in many cases.  Most employers will pick and choose what will and will not be covered on their policies depending on what the insurer charges.  For example, in a previous job, my Boss and his wife both needed extensive, expensive dental work (including implants).  When the insurance came up for renewal, he made sure that implants were covered (they previously weren't).  The following renewal he made sure they were not covered (this was after he and wife completed their treatment) because it cost the company X dollars extra per month on their premiums. Check with your employer.  Besides, when I had my surgery the criteria that had to be met with BCBS was at least 100# overweight AND 2 co-morbidiities.  If I didn't have the HBP and severe sleep apnea I wouldn't have been able to have my surgery covered.
