sorry for not posting for so long!!!!!!
Hi everyone, please forgive me for not checking in or updating you on my progress, but I do have an excuse. I went back to work on Feb. 8th. after surgery and on Feb. 16th. one of my students (special ed) tripped me as we were walking down the hall. I fell on my left arm and left knee and my arm is fractured. Of course it too****upational Therapy a month to figure this out, but things are coming along now. I go three times a week for physical therapy. The major problem that I have is that the pain medication that I was taking (Lortab Elixir, boy was that good stuff)!!!! Constipated me to the point where I was impacted. I went through a week of hell, I had to call Dr. Irgau and nothing he told me to take would make me go. Finally things moved, but I can't take the pain meds anymore. On the up side I have lost 65 pound so far. The down side is that I can't walk or excerize because my knee keeps swelling up. I have arthritis in my left knee, but I promise to check in more often.

OMG, the gas is sooo normal...and after surgery there's not much we can do but joke around about it. As a matter of fact, I am usually up and around by this time of the (very early) morning but today, the hubby was rippin' em and cleared me right out the bedroom! He's 2 1/2 years post-op, and me being only 6 1/2 months out, I can't even compete yet! The smells kind of lingers for a really long time too...After being up for over an hour, I had to go into my dresser for a pair of socks and OMG, it still smelled really yucky in the bedroom! My hubby stirred a bit when I went in and I told him, "jesus Ed, you better check for lumps cuz this room reeks."
I'm thinking the excess gas is a combination of the malabsorption and the types of foods we eat. I notice alot more gas if I eat veggies or salad, or greasy foods. Dairy products get me every time, even if I eat the lactase enzyme pills. I really miss being able to eat salads and veggies (by the time I finish the protein requirements, I am too full) so sometimes I cheat by having an extra protein shake during the day, so I don't have to eat all that meat and can have the roughage I crave at dinner time. I pay dearly by being all blown up the rest of the night. I just retire to my bedroom early and quietly (or not so quietly!) get rid of the gas while watching TV. The dog won't even stay in there with me.
I have been very lucky so far and have not had any real complications from the surgery, so if farting is the only problem I have, I'll take that.
