Stomach Virus?
Has anyone (post-RNY) out there had the stomach flu that's been going around? What were your symptoms and how long did it last? I ask because the trouble I've been having has lasted 4 days so far and it's getting really frustrating.
I started on Monday afternoon with some stabbing pains/spasms high in the stomach that would move down into the lower abdomen. These pains only last a few seconds but are very intense. I'll have maybe 3 or 4 of the spasms in a row, then it will feel like a cramp associated with gas pain as it moves down. There were a couple of episodes of diarrhea Monday night, but none since then. I only ask about the stomach flu because I was exposed to it on Sunday and then again on Monday, got sick with the pains Monday afternoon. There has been no nausea or vomiting, just the incredible pain. It seems to come shortly after I eat or drink anything. It feels the same as when I would get the tummy bugs every year before I had surgery, but since having RNY, I am feeling cautious because the pain might be an ulcer or something else. Any info would help. Thanks.

Kathy, if the pains continue you better see the Doc. My friend Denise thought she had a stomach virus but it was scar tissue causing her pain. Don't want to scare you, but she had to have surgery. I'm not trying to say that's what is going on with you, but just wanted you to know. She got the pains after she ate or drank. Apparently developing scar tissue after our surgery happens more often than we think.
