DOWNTON WILMINGTON QUIZNO'S REALLY BITES!
Today, I ventured out in the snow to get some lunch. I usually go to the gym on my lunch hour, but the idea of sweating then thrusting myself into snowy cold weather did NOT appeal to me. So, I went to pick up some lunch instead.
I stopped in Quizno's on the Mall, and the owner refused to honor my request for a kid's meal, even after I explained that I had had gastric bypass. I was SO pissed! I angrily told him that I would take my money somewhere else. What a stupid man! On a day like today, he did not have many customers, yet he could afford to refuse to serve me?!
Now, I wouldn't dream of telling anyone what to do, but I sure as heck won't be patronizing that store again!
Thanks for letting me vent.
By the way, I'm down 51 lbs. Yippee!
Congrat's on the awesome loss. Keep up the momentum. Hope you feel as good as you sound.
Thanks for the head's up. It's funny, Hollywood Grille on 202 and 141 also has the same policy. Won't go there again. I will tell anyone I know also. Keep sharing the resturants that will cater to us as well as the ones that won't. If you are ever at a Cracker Barrell, they will do anything you want or need. I'm in Las Vegas and we went to a buffett at Rio's on Sunday night. I showed her my bypass slip and they gave it to me for the kid's price. Needless to say I was a happy camper. I had a small piece of prime rib and 2 king crab legs. MMMMM. Looking at re-scheduling our return flight in case the Philadelphia airport is closed.
TT you all later. ((HUGS)) Elissa
Las Vegas, huh?! I hope to be planning a trip there very soon myself! Hope you're having a great time.
Thanks for the tip on Hollywood Grille--I'll be avoiding that place as well.
I have been to Cracker Barrell, and you're right--they were awesome! Most restaurants are very accommodating. With so many WLS patients walking around, restaurants really should offer the same meals at smaller quantities and lower prices!
I've not had any problems with any counter service restaurants. I just order the kid's meal. They probably just assume I'm taking it home to a child. In any case, I don't explain. Of course, drive-thrus are not a problem, either.
Restaurants are definitely a different matter. Nice to hear about Cracker Barrel. I usually just order & take the leftovers home to eat (for days)!
Stay warm!

Old Country Buffett across from Christiana Hospital does not give a us a discount, so I don't go there anymore.
International Grill and Buffet in Elsmere (Chinesse) will charge us 7.99 (kids price) to go and eat there. Just show them your card.
Cracker Barrell is awesome, they are wonderful to us.

Funny we go to Hollywood grill all the time since we share entree adn there is no charge or difficulty. They even split an omelette for 2. I never asked or wanted from the kids menu but they'll split anything, and that's how we go now -- good for both of us not to eat those huge portions.
Just my two cents...
FYI:
2 weeks ago I was at Bob Evans and even after showing the waitress , she STILL gave me a hard time about order from the kid's menu. After asking for the manager, she agreed to let me have the childrens meal. BUT it was 2.00 more.
Most of the time I would let it go and pay it. But it just hit me wrong. Has anyone had this issue????
I have not been to Bob Evans since my surgery, but most restaurants are very accommodating. A lot of the time, I just order something that my 9-year old likes, then he and I share. But, I was alone this particular day, so the Quizno's guy really threw me when he refused to serve me a kid's meal.
Let me just say that not all Quizno's are the same. I went to the Quizno's near Christiana Hospital, and had no problem ordering a kid's meal. It's the rogue downtown Wilmington location that's the problem. LOL
