Stick it in your rear - OLD MAN WINTER!!!
Reading all the posts is soooooo enlightning. Nutrition sounds like a field I'd like to be in when I grow up. Then again I am semi-retired kinda. Think it's too late to get started?
So what do you say, this time next year, maybe we could plan our own cruise? To get away from "OLE MAN WINTER."
I'm in. We'll be leaving for Las Vegas Friday. It's a toasty 65 there. Pool is indoors so I'm happy. Hot tub is outside, but I can run fast now. LOL. ((HUGS)) Elissa
Gigee,
You are so NOT alone in this cold weather. I am originally from Michigan and I moved to Delaware almost 2 years ago to get away from Michigan winters. I still love it here and laugh out loud when they schools close because of 1/2" of snow. LOL. Even though we get temps in the teens and single digits here, I am comforted in knowing it will only last a couple of weeks instead of 3 or 4 months, like in Michigan. I have been sleeping in my Eagles hoodie for 2 weeks now! I wear 2 pairs of socks all day and all night. My long johns are worn out totally, so I bought some new, SMALLER ones.(tiny little WOW moment there.) Yesterday, I bought 2 knit caps, on sale at Walmart for $1 each. The thermostat is set at 74 and I am wearing a t-shirt, a long sleeved shirt, and my hoodie, Long underwear, flannel pajama bottoms, and 2 pair of socks. My feet are still cold, so I put on one of my new knit caps...the light blue one. I am going back to bed, with all of these clothes on just to get warm again. But I know it's only gonna last a couple of weeks and will never suffer another Michigan winter, so I can handle it.
You know, my mother has lived in PotNets for seven years and I cannot for the life of me recall it ever being this darn COLD when we would visit from right across the bridge in Annapolis, MD.
Apparently I've brought the cold weather with me? Sorry, folks!
I am sitting here with two sweatshirts on, and still shivering. WHEN is it gonna warm up, folks? I don't know how much more I can take LOL.

Joanne, YES I would love to start walking with you . . . and Kathy Gallagher too . . . right now we are staying temporarily with my mom. This is SO stressful, I am an emotional/stress eater and just being in this atmosphere I find myself stuffing my face constantly. I am afraid to step on the scale.
This will definitely change once I find a job and friends to keep me occupied LOL.
My mom is extremely overweight and looking for an 'eating' partner (currently she is being a bad influence on my 6 year old daughter and I am livid). Unfortunately, my mom is a sabotager . . . don't know if it is deliberate or not . . .
I will stay in touch about walking/exercising . . . still unpacking and getting kids situated in school, etc. Thanks!

BJ , You will love the school here. I have guardianship of my 7 year old grandson and 8 year old grandaughter. They both go to Long Neck Elem. My grandaughter has a weight problem where her bother is just the oppisite. I truely understand influences. I think I am my own worst enemy and I sabotage myself. I send you an email with my phone #. Call me anytime. See you lighter. Joanne
Joanne -- I know exactly where Shawn's Hideaway is -- I just drove by it earlier today as a matter of fact! I have heard really good things about the elementary school from other parents. We did get off to a rough start this week, my son has very mild autism and also juvenile diabetes and the nurse was NOT very helpful, I had to convene a team meeting with principal, teachers, etc. so I hope I haven't started out on the wrong foot with everyone My kids are 9 and 6 btw. I will send you an email with my phone number tonite!
