BC/BS CHRIAS - we all need to use our voices..
My question is, does anyone have specific information on:
Who do we call to complain at BC? Phone#?
Who do we call at the insurance commissioners office?
Where do we write to complain?
I just spoke to the Chrias office, the standing $30 co-pay for prior patients is NOT a definate at this time. Supposedly it is still being decided. They are telling me that if you have 'out of network' benefits, that you still have to pay the $125, and submit to BC/BS. I have Empire BC/BS and do NOT have out of network coverage.
I have an opportunity to change insurances right now, so I called Chrias and have found that NONE of my options for insurance would be in network coverage.
I have had one post wls surgery already that was a complication, and if anything happened again, I wouldn't want anyone else messing with my insides.
We really need to do something about this and not just say 'oh well, I can't make a difference'.. maybe we can.
Thanks for listening,
Tina
The person who helped me is Brenda Lakeman. I e-mailed the commissioner and I was referred to her. She works for state. Her e-mail address is: [email protected]
The last e-mail she sent to me, on 1/3/07 is stated as such:
Hi Carla,
I have just been informed that if any member has had surgery by CHRIAS and needs post op care only it can be provided by CHRIAS. You can go and it will be considered as in network and you then would be responsible only for the copay. The provider is to bill Blue Cross and they are aware of this arrangement. Please contact the provider about this arrangement.
She is very efficient and quick to reply. This is just ridiculous. It really is. Let me know of her replies.
