Well Monday is the day for me at 7AM......But today the insurance company has requested more information from my PCP....They want a more detailed diet history...Now this is crazy the last minute, I have only tomarrow morning to get this done, if not...it is not covered and the surgery will not be on Monday.... getting a bit frustrated now. But will keep at it. Will post on Friday to keep you up to date.

Before my doctor wrote his "letter of necessity" he asked me to write a list of my "diet attempts" and he worked from there. You may want to do that for your doctor . Let your doctor know that this is time related. Sending you lots of Good Luck wishes... Sandy

That is frustrating. Just be prepared, either way. Hoping to hear that you get to have your surgery on Monday morning. Like the last poster said, couldn't hurt to get that letter to your doc immediately. Best of luck, Dianne

Well the first denial came in and no surgery for me on Monday. Will wait for the denial letter to start my appeal...The insurance company wants me on thyroid medication...They see my TSH level is 5.6. I have all ready seen an endocrinologist and he does not want me on thyroid medication because my thyroid function tests are fine. It is the fact that I am on Paxil which will cause a rise in my TSH level....Dr. Peters had a peer to peer call with the insurance medical director however he still wants me on thyroid medication for 6 months prior to reconsideration of approval. In addition he wants me on a 6 month physician monitored diet...So either way they have me, but I will appeal the medication side because I refuse to go on more medication.

Scott, Keep your chin up and even if it's 6 months out.... It's still well worth the wait! Dr Peters is AWESOME with the insurance companies and his call may work. You may also want the endocrine Dr to do the same. James
