Due to Chrias no longer working with BC/BS of DE, I am going to Chester to get my surgury/medical needs met. I have never been there, and was wondering if anyone has any positives/negatives about the place. Thanks Al

Alfred, what BC/BC do you have? Might it be by chance Independence? If that is so then you can still go to CHRIAS...............

Al, I have BC/BS DE. I'm going to Dr. Katz's mandatory seminar next week at Crozer. I've got all of my clearances except Endochrinology and done all of the PMRI classes. I'm not happy about having to re-start some of this stuff. They won't give you an appointment to see the doctor until after the seminar. I will say that it was very easy to talk to Pat at Dr. Katz's office. None of that number pushing. A human actually answered the phone! Never been to Crozer but I intend to do some checking around, too. It does have a world class burn center and has several center of excellence ratings. I'm sure it will be OK. I'll post my experience with Chester here. Good luck, Kathy

One of the girls who was in my original diet class through St. Francis and CHRIAS is going to Crozer, hopefully she will read this and give you some news. I think she is scheduled later this month for her surgery! Michelle

Hi, I did a bit of on-line looking and found that Crozer has a comprehensive bariatric program. That is certainly good news. I really hated the thought of going to a general surgery floor where they know little about bariatrics. Here's the link: http://www.crozer.org/CKHS/Left+Nav/Hospitals+and+Facilities/Crozer-Chester+Medical+Center /Bariatric+Surgery/ It's kind of long so you might have to cut and paste. Kathy

Crozer Chester has a Bariatric center as well as Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia. For BC/BS insurance you can also try ibx.com to locate a surgeon or contact the insurance company directly. I understand not everyone has a medical background but please be YOUR own patient advocate when it comes to YOUR health. I actually contacted the Medical Society of Delaware before making my decison on whom to go to. Hope this helps you...........

Hi Al, It has been over 15 mo. since I have had my surgery at Crozer and I expect that there has been alot of changes with Dr. Katz there. I have been to the support meetings since surgery and Pat is very friendly and helpful. She has said that she and Dr. Katz have had many meetings with the staff about the bariatric changes that will need to be done. Like with the nutrition and such . I will be having my hernia repaired by Dr. Katz on Feb. 5 so I will see how much it has changed in a year an a half. I have to admit that back then I didn't have a very good experience but you may want to come to a support meeting and talke to some people that have had the surgery more recently about their experiences. Good Luck and hope to meet you one day. Sandy
