Good Morning all.... As I told you earlier, I am not only the bariatric coordinator, but a bariatric patient as well... having great concern over your plight, I took up the cause!! After much discussion and in speaking with the medical director of BC/BS of Delaware, Dr. Katz will now see ALL POST-OP patients both LAP-BAND and Gastric Bypass. He will be available by appointment to see you for surgical follow-up (after the 90 day global post-op period) for scheduled follow-up, labs, LAP-BAND FILLS (the overwhelming majority of calls I recieved), nutritional counseling and case management as indicated. The only concession is that if a Gastric Bypass patient requires SURGICAL intervention such as a revision, you will be re-directed back to your surgeon, and we will assist you in coordinating the care that you need. I hope that this eases your burden, and gives you peace of mind. I look forward to welcoming you to our program! As our schedule is pretty booked at this time, you can anticipate available appointments after 1/22/07. That is a very nice thing for you both to do....I am sure people will be looking your way for help and guidance especially if there are problems.
