To begin with I would like to thank everyone on this web site for your wonderful words of wisdom, support and prayers. I would also like to thank God for pointing me to Dr. Irgau for this surgery and will continue to for the rest of my life. (Sorry if I'm sounding like I just got an Academy Award) But on top of everything I got my period so my hormones are crazy right now!!!! I won't go into detail about everything right now only to say that the surgery went perfect. I had some problems with my blood pressure, blood surgar levels, oxigen levels, and of course my white blood cell count went from 19,000 to 23,000 after surgery, but it did not prevent me from coming home which I was really happy about. I have to admit at the last minute I was scared about having the surgery, but with all my family there and my Angel Janice Galloway (she truely is my angel and I don't know what I would do without her)!!!! I calmed down and had this sence of peace and calm come over me just before I entered the operating room. The treatment I recieved at the Christianna Hospital was wonderful. I love Lynn Vitalia (bariatric coordinator) and of course my sister-in-law Eileen who I was lucky to have as one of my nurses. All the staff at the hospital was great. I wish that the 5 other people who had surgery the same day that I did would post on the web site so I can see how they are doing. All I know is that 3 of us came home on Thursday. So for anyone on the waiting list for surgery have "high hopes", because the hospital is husseling to get all the surgeries in before the December 15th deadline. Well, that's all for now! Have to start getting the protein in today so I have to go for now. Love, Rosemary

Congrads to you for being on the losing side. I wasnt one of the lucky 5 other people having surgery on your day but I was the ''Unlucky'' one having Emgergency Surgery oh around 10:00pm Wednesday night with Dr Irgau. Thank God that man dont sleep much. For me this is my 3rd surgery in a year for the Lap Band but the 1st time for the Band Slipping. Only about 3% of people ever go thru what I have been thru. My Band had half of my stomach on one side and the other half on the other side. The xray doctor said oh Sharon this is bad as he was doing the swollow test. HMMMM I have known all this for 3 months since I could eat food. If it wasnt for protein drinks dont know where I would be. . Good luck to you in all that you do!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow, Sharon. I am sorry to hear that you had to have surgery, but am happy to hear that you made out well. What is next for you? Did you have to have the band replaced, or just re-located back to its correct position? Are you back on 6 weeks of liquids? How did it all work out for you? I am glad to hear you are feeling better. Rosemary, I am glad to hear that you are home and that surgery was a success. Congratulations! Remember to walk, even if you do not feel like it. Walking really helps you a lot. Before you know it, you will be running My husband and I are going out tonight to dinner with friends, (not that I won't eat more than an appetizer, if that, mind you). It felt so good last night to go out shopping and not have to buy clothes in an XL. It feels even better that the L is a little too big It is a long way from the size 20 that I was squeezing into just over a year ago I haven't seen our friends since last January. This ought to be fun!

Sharon: I'm so sorry for you having to have 3 surgeries in a years time. I hope the third time is the charm for you. I to had to be put on insulin while I was in the hospital too. It seems that the surgar water in my IV bag shot my surgar up to 245, so they changed it to saline. My surgar is good now, I don't even have to take my meds because my surgar drops at night to between 62-65. Rest up and Good Luck!!! Rosemary

I am not sure if the Band was replaced or not all my husband said was Dr Irgau said I begged him not to loose my Band and he gave me what I wanted-I still have the Band (new or old I still have one LOL) Yes liquids for 4 weeks and mushies for 2 weeks. PHEW AGAIN over the Holidays. AHHHH Atleast I can drink Eggnog huh. Ha Ha Atleast this time around I am healthier. Oh and yes I still had to take Insulin (darn it ) while in the hospital. Let's see how long I can keep this Band this time. Better be forever!!!!!!

Hi Trish: These emotions you are feeling are normal. Everyone goes through them. This is a serious operation and we all know the risk going in so you can't help but be nervious. I got through all of this with the help and support of my family and a really good friend who I was originally to have surgery with back in 2005. She was there for me and it really helped to see her before I went into surgery. And of course prayer is a big help also. How are you doing with your weight loss? I saw your post for help with that and I responed with some info. for you. I hope you read it? Let me know how you are doing? Rosemary
