Hello, I have a question for those of you who have already had the surgery or have a date for your surgery. How long after your initial appointment did it take before you were given a date for your surgery? Approximately how long is the process from start to finish. My insurance doesn't require that I go on a monitored diet before the surgery. Thanks in advance. Jennifer

Hi! My surgery is Monday, 12/11. I saw Dr. Wynn for the first time in September of this year. The whole process took me about 3 months but I worked on it every day. I had a deadline, my insurance would only pay in full until December 15th, so I made it my mission to get all the clearances as soon as possible. I think this is pretty quick though. When I got the list of who I needed to see I sat down and made every appointment. I did have a difficult time figuring out what I had to do first, the order of all the consults and how I would get to this point. I just kept calling and asking questions until I understood exactly what I had to do. Good Luck! Hilde

Hi Jennifer, it all depends on how quickly you can get your clearances done and into a Lifeskills class. Right now things are crazy because of the BCBS issues going on and they have a ton of surgerys between now and 12/15. I would say by springtime though you will be sitting on the losers bench and enjoying your new life. My process was longer by my choice because I had to wait until I had vacation time and our slow season kicked in at work. So my first appointment with Dr. Wynn was Sept 18, 2005, but my surgery wasn't until Apr 3, 2006. Like I said though this was my choice. Good Luck, Deanna

My initial appointment with Dr. Peters was October 10. My insurance requires 3 months of "multidisciplinary surgical preparatory regimen". My surgery date is February 5, 2007. Getting appointments and test were the challenge.

Hi Jennifer, My first appt. was mid August and I had my Lap Band surgery on October 24th. I was lucky to get everything done so quickly. It takes a while to schedule your appts. for clearances plus you have your life skills classes. No matter how long it takes....it's worth the wait. Good luck. Lisa

Thank you to all of you that replied. From what everyone has said it takes about three months from your first appointment to the actual surgery. I'll looking forward to it all. Jennifer

Hi jennifer I had my initial consult on Sept 8, 2006 and my surgery was on 11/20/06, I really flew through my appointments. It's best to stay on top of them as people tend to drag their feet. Good luck michelle

Each surgical team is different. I was done in PA Hospital. My date was a little under 2 mos. Its a combo of their schedule and yours. Good luck with your journey. Time goes by quickly. Debbie
